I think Thriller is the slightly better album but both of them are all time classics that will never get old to the listener. I heard Thriller as a child and every song was a hit. I didn't hear Off the Wall till much later and didn't even realize some of the songs I had heard on the radio over the years was on this album. Thriller gets the praise because of Quincy Jones and Mike having a vision and it coming to light, but Off the Wall should be praised just as much. Both got all time classics on them Thriller just has more. And along with Bad Mike could put up those three albums with any other artist's or group's best three albums and contend.

I grew up as a shorty with off the wall on record in dam near every family household I was in. That picture of him chilling in front of the wall is ingrained in my head. That album is and always will be an undeniable classic to me for many reasons. And working day and night is not filler.

With that said, Thriller is THE album. I have played that album more than any other, of any genre, period. Excellence - look at them 9 songs my goodness. Everyone knows the stats.

The video for thriller will never, ever be topped point blank period.

The video for beat it got nikkaz hype ! Billy jean video legendary

Quite simply, thriller is a masterpiece. Bad, off the wall and dangerous are all classics but there can only be one, and that is thriller.

who's talking about videos? obviously the videos and hype surrounding thriller were bigger and better than everything, that happened because MJ released what he thought was a masterpiece (with off the wall) and got no love for it on MTV and at awards season. he basically said "fukk that" and made a concerted effort to produce a crossover album, pouring money into over the top videos and the hype machine. i don't think that has anything to do with the quality of the music.

I agree with the guy who said Dangerous has mad filler, but it has great songs too. Heal The World is perfectttt.

Out of all of Michael's classic records...I HATE Heal The World...i don't know why....I get it's Michael's most personal record and it's the song he loved the most..but when i hear it I just go :ScustObama:

I think he got the point across better on Earth Song..now THAT shyt is on some :ohhh:

I LOVE this thread tho! :ahh:

Off the Wall is better than Thriller for the same reasons why 2pac's "Me Against the World" was better than "All Eyez on Me"

YUP!!!

billie jean was like the 1st black video to get played on mtv. meaning, they completely snubbed every video from "off the wall" because of cism.

TRACE IT BACK!!!

a lot of the o.g. Jackson five fans that are in and around their '50s, they'll tell you that "off the wall" was his hottest joint. a lot of them will tell you that they didn't even mess with him all like that afterwards.

thriller was the crossover. not taking anything away from thriller, or BAD. but they were like the volume 2 to his "reasonable doubt". the "it was written" to his illmatic.

My main point isn't about the videos, its about the music contained in the albums. And my point on that stands.

The videos are directly a result from the album. I'm stating how great they were, since i am talking about that album. I'm sure every person that has heard thriller will remember the videos such were their impact. Over the top would suggest unnecessary to me, which would be foolish to imply given the results.

Are you disputing the quality of music on thriller? Going into that album (Thriller) with the hype surrounding it only enhances expectation. Many artists suffer trying to follow a classic. Yet he delivered THE album as far as i am concerned. He done it 3 times in a row.

I hear you. My pops and uncle will tell you off the wall is better. That album was getting played constantly, even when thriller was out.

I wasn't alive to witness and understand any kind of crossover. I was like 2/3 when thriller got released ....

Let me say again off the wall is my shyt, but thriller was THE album and taking aside any salty feeling the older heads may have about the direction he headed after off the wall, Thriller is a masterpiece.

And for the record, it was written is my favorite Nas album:ahh: But that can wait for another time!
