I made a thread about Trap should separate into its own genre and becoming another version of House or Techno music.

Why do they push that shyt so hard to denounce traditional Hip-Hop? :why:
Its evolving....boom bap have its place... I think the trap is the future... And I think if real emcees used them...they would be more respected

nikka I make beats too. MORE than likely longer than u. Matter fact. Post one of ya trap beats. I bet I can post one by my lil brother that would fukk ya shyt up. One he made in 20 minutes.
(1) You are already biased...So whats the point...

(2) The original composers get 95% of the credit for a Lil Brother beat...

(3) 9/10 times a soul sample can stand on its one without further treatment...A good example are the recent beats Roc Marciano has been rapping on...

There's lots of classic trap songs out there, the problem is all of the modern shyt just follows the same formula and sounds all the same, nobody does anything different or tries to be creative.

And from experience trap beats are way easier to make and usually quicker

Sampling forces me to be more creative and it's more fun to make

As a beat maker who both samples and does "trap"...
(1) I agree...Today's producers are MORE talented than the old school samplers...

(2) It is NOT easy trying to make an 808 sound BOOMING while not distorting the other instruments...

(3) It is more creative using all the EDM techniques like filter passes, pitch bending, sidechain compression and such

(4) It takes A LOT more time to produce a "Trap" beat than it is to sample...If a sample producer tells me he made a beat in 15 minutes, I believe him...If a trap producer tells me the same, I call :duck:

(5) With all that stated, I will conclude that it is not easier or harder to make a trap beat vs a sample beat and vice versa...

Today's VST instruments and effects are SO DOPE that they can transform a simple 3 note melody into a mosaic of sounds...A lot of them have ready made melodies and sequences...

(6) Final thought, the Trap/Drill sound is so GOOD that you don't need to be a good rapper,,,I don't think you can be a good rapper on a trap/drill beat...Those beats have TOO MANY sounds going...Rapper are forced to keep it simple...

It is like EDM...You just need a nice voice with a nice melody and not too many words...

all this shyt is fukking irrelevant and isn't how you define creativity.

Creativity is about the potency of expression aka the soul aka the feeling and idea. PERIOD. If RZA takes an obscure loop and slaps it onto some drums, and it's the coolest shyt ever, he's a way better producer than you. Who spends hours like a retard fine-tuning basura.

It doesn't matter how long it takes for you to make a beat.

It doesn't matter how you make a beat.

It doesn't matter whether you sampled or didn't.

Just make a dope beat. Period.

All this side chain compression, heavenly hash bullshyt you're talking about is wack as fukk. and has zero staying power. Plain and simple.

Figure out a way to make some lasting, passionate stuff and then we'll consider y'all shyt.

That's because of the rappers

No it isn't, dude. Do you even know shyt about hip hop?!

These classic albums have lasted because those beats, first and foremost, are still appealing.

(1) You are already biased...So whats the point...

You're copping pleas.

Dope music is dope music.

I won't shyt on trap beats, because they really aren't my thing. I like Gibbs on trap beats though.

To the point, no matter what you prefer, I've always hated the argument that sampling isn't creative. Sometimes you hear lazy loops, but you have to have an EAr and it's not easy. You can pick any sampled beat, give someone the records and the tools the producer used to make the beat, explain to them how to recreate it, and most people won't be able to do it.

Someone even made a website where you can try to recreate 3 sampled beats and it's hard as fukk.

Re-create producers' beats from their samples, mapped to your computer keyboard

People don't understand that chopping and making collages out of old music is creative and original. All music is inspired by other music, and most stuff comes from other ideas. Making beats is an art form regardless of how you do it, and there are great and awful beatmakers that do samples and great and awful ones that don't.

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
That's because of the rappers
not at all. the beats had more soul. less quantized. less robotic. more tailored for people to rap over. it just sounds like music. it can be replicated with a live band a lot of the time as well. Trap beats can be dope but it's unrealistic as fukk. I think it should be its own sub genre to be honest.

These are 10-15 minute tricks on Fl studio...it doesn't take any time...Trap beats are actually REAAALLLY easy to make.
You just layer the 808s....nikkas already have kits ready...and automation, effects are added after the beat is sequenced...You can layer automation over your main track and have it turn off and on at certain times...sidechain compression, filters, etc.

Do you make beats? If you don't you shouldn't be looking so deeply into it. Fans like you make magic out of really simple shyt and it's an insult to true artists.
How long do you think it took him to make that beat?
