Eating a donut every now and then is the complete opposite of "compulsive desire"

At least try to accurately respond to the post you're quoting.

Eating shytty food every now and then and still being able to be healthy doesn't change the fact that the food is shytty nutritionally.

I responded accurately. He responded to a poster saying he eats a donut occasionally and irrationally translated that statement to “compulsive desire” Make that make sense. Obviously you and him lack nuance on this particular matter.

All becomes secondary to supporting the kids and family :yeshrug:

I'm lazy af, work from home, got chirrun, and I'd rather play the station or the box.

However...

I'm naturally slim and I eat very well, hardly any junk food etc... I figure the moment my metabolism slows down and I start getting pudgy I'll start working out. Until then my lazy ass gon enjoy the ride :sas2:

:what:

The average person already does this without working out and most people are working damn desk jobs.

Older men with kids and family have less time.

It more convenient to just eat cleaner.

Playing with your kids is one of the best bonding experiences. Riding bikes with them, going on walks, playing basketball, throwing the football, jogging/running, hell just do pushups and sit ups and body squats.

I come from a family that plays sports. Basketball, football, soccer, volleyball, etc. Moms/dads/brothers/sisters/aunts/uncles/nieces/nephews/sons/daughters. We don't sit around and watch, we play. The kids are enrolled, I still compete locally. And I'm over 30.

Recess don't stop cause your grown, gotta work, cook, clean and shyt.

Your kids go to gym 3 times a week, just like them coming home and doing math, or reading, you gotta go on walks, run with them, ride a bike with them, do something physical with them, not just sign them up for a team and take them to practice and watch them play.

I'm sure when your kids were little you took them to a park or the back yard and chased them around, pushed them on swings, let them climb on shyt. No reason to stop cause they're older, just do different activities.

Heres the post he was responding to

Sometimes. This is why you work out, so you can enjoy the occasional donut. You only live once, and it's not forever. Can't Chicken breast, and white rice your way through life.
Now... i understand the truth in "occasionally" eating shytty food without real consequences...

i think the issue arises from the fact that the VAST MAJORITY of people who will die an early death from shytty health... they use the same "you only live once" motto to justify their behavior...

we are all getting into it because even though the same words are coming from our mouths.. "we" (people who take health seriously) arent the ones who are suffering...

the actual negative impact these same words have on lives is so widespread its hard to not aggressively confront that logic whenever it's seen.

For starters, just keep going. Even when you feel mentally like shyt and don't want to. There's been weeks in a row where Ive been like " :stopitslime: I don't want to do this shyt today...." I go and end up feeling better. Never have I left the gym feeling bad or like I wasted time.

I sign up for events. I'll usually run 5ks, 5 mile, 10ks or half marathons. If there's an event coming up, it's kind of like a deadline but it's also a goal or benchmark. I set a goal in my mind and see if I can achieve it.

Breh don’t even waste your time. Dudes like him don’t understand nuance. Notice how he brought up stress based reward centered eating and childhood eating habits and an inability to break them out of nowhere? He constructed an entire scenario in his mind all because I said “you only live once enjoy that donut.”. Like if you said “yeah breh have a beer it ain’t gonna kill you” his mind would automatically say “alcoholic”. His thought lack cohesion so it’s either all or nothing in his world.
‘Dudes like him’ could go YEARS without a donut. Thats the flaw in your thinking that all of us have that desire and that working out and eating right is a grind and takes sacrifice. It ain’t bruh. I love this shyt :unimpressed:

Of course everyone has vices and occasional favorites but from my experience if you gotta get so defensive over your right to let loose a “few times” you ain’t built for this long term brotha.

It’s the discipline while you’re relatively young, and/or single, with youthful energy that creates that muscle memory. Bc when folk get older, and have kids, and have more stress, and ain’t trying to impress a chick no more…. that ‘aww it’s just a donut’ is gon turn into ‘aww just fukk it’ :yeshrug:

Thanks for replying bro. Yeah I’m grateful that lately i have been going despite being off my square. But for me it’s akin to not going at all because when i go, I only do 1-2 excercises and bounce within 15 mins. That’s what got me feeling like yo wtf is up with me

Now a follow up, you plan your workouts in advance? How you go about that? When I was younger I would pre write what I was going to do down to sets and reps . Nowadays I kinda go with the flow but with each day assigned a certain body part. In other words I know tomorrow is leg day but I decide what excercises I’ll do when I get there

But idk reading your reply made me think that maybe that’s it. Maybe I need to plan my workouts with detail in advance. It isn’t a remedy but at least it will help me begin getting back to the gym. I wanna overcome going and leaving within 10 mins shyt
