I see a lot of excuses in this thread. You don’t have to join a gym gym to workout. Hell, it’s not even about getting big. What’s so hard about doing some push-ups or crunches, bodyweight squats, lunges, calf raises? Takes no more than 30 min and that’s better than nothing.

I feel you. I've had to take the volume down quite a bit. Gone are the days of wasting half a damn day in the gym. I'm in and out in an hour (cardio included) and keep it pushin. It's incredible how many young dudes out here looking sad and gangly when they could be in the gym taking advantage of natures HGH. I've been fortunate enough not to injure myself THAT much. Have had a couple injuries from trying to squat a bus, but other than that I'm cool. I did buy a total gym so I'm going to try and incorporate more Pilates type work into my routine for sure. These days I'm all about

F. Function
C. Comfort
E. Efficiency
In my opinion, one of the biggest problems I see in the fitness world is people working out too much or too little. The optimal approach is to find a balance somewhere in between. I've observed that some people work out six days a week and either end up looking super jacked(often because they're using performance-enhancing drugs) or :flabbynsick: . The latter is typically due to not giving their bodies enough rest.

Contrary to popular belief, a lot of muscle gains are made on rest days. These days also help reduce pain and decrease the risk of injury. Ultimately, the key is to find that sweet spot between doing too much and doing too little.

Of course, this is just my personal opinion based on my experience as a strength and power lifter for half of my life. I've managed to avoid injury by following a balanced approach to working out.

You're right. All your gains come from rest and nutrition. You can lift like Ronnie coleman, but if you're not eating right or getting 7-8 hours of sleep it's going to be for naught. You're gonna stall the fukk out. Also dudes going to failure every single set...You don't even need to do that. Find a good rep range, coupled with a decent amount of volume does wonders.

I'm 30, but from what I see it's being lazy, "too busy" or they just... gave up.

Not much insight I’m always in pain due to a rare complication of a normal surgery that damn near killed me and they fixed it and fukked me up more while I was in army
Had gallbladder surgery removed woke up next day 9 months pregnant literally keep in mind I was in great shape six pack and u see a big ass belly and man that was the worse pain in my life had me in tears screaming I wish that on no one
So I get taking to ER and I’m stationed in Italy and go to off post hospital in a foreign country and they try to figure out what’s wrong after several test they do get immediate surgery I had a bile obstruction with loose ligaments strangled too
So I stay in hospital but what caused me to get gallbladder cuz of blood work and pain in stomach never went away
So I get out of hospital go to Germany see gastroenterologist do a liver biopsy
Find out I have sarcoidosis in liver
Surgery caused me to get fibromyalgia and IBS

So for me it took years to accumulate to the pain mentally and physically I don’t work out how I use to before I was sick and I really can’t run or not run long
I do walks or walks with weighted vest at times but majority time I use exercise bike with high tension settings at least 20 mins
I lift weights only with my bowflex and use my pull up and dip rack and I do body weight workouts.
I don’t workout long cuz I do not try to exceed my limits i have a set in mind or at least till I feel ya im at my limit
I only workout for 10-20 mins but with little rest I do my bike more than I do workouts tho my bike exercise can be from 20 -60 mins
I workout whatever body part I feel like at that moment in order to be consistent but I do try to keep it to chest arms shoulders back and legs with bowflex but if I ain’t in mood do chest that day I may do arms and shoulders

Going purely off intuition based on what you've said I'd suggest giving some Thiamine a try at a higher dosage than usual to assist your nervous system balance and digestio. Also look into your thyroid function as I'd be willing to bet that was what set all of this off back when and sorting it now is a case of better late than never as its responsible for the bodies metabolic function.

This is great because you obviously have a good level of mindbody sensing which is an essential link in all of this so keep at it. I'd also suggest adding in regular massage sessions as well as spending around 10 minutes a day just breathing with longer exhales as that offers huge benefits in creating the state of equilbrium.

Finally DLPA as previously mentioned is a fantastic natural analgesic as it shifts the breakdown and reuptake of the bodies natural painkillers so is worth checking. It also calms the mind with a nice, non stimmed focus.

Can't support your kids/family if you're dead/disabled from health problems

:francis:

Matter if fact, a healthy fit individual is more likely to be seen as a leader and recieve business opportunities/raises/promotions. You can also work more effectively when your body is in shape. You get tired less easily etc.

:what:

The average person already does this without working out and most people are working damn desk jobs.

Older men with kids and family have less time.

It more convenient to just eat cleaner.

Done that thyroid stuff and do it yearly and all blood work for me for all different things
Seen neurology and rheumatology and taken all kinds of drugs none have helped so it got to point to adjustments which I have done since 2008 and been able to manage i have my good days and my bad days but I get thru it and got to point less meds I use better off unless I have too I’m in remission still thank god tho
Massages not effective for me it causes more pain then help unfortunately

Yeah, your case is definitely not simple as there are overlapping factors at play over a sustained time frame in non usual situations and you know yourself best.

I would definitely suggest looking into the Thiamine as mentioned because a lack of gallbladder can effect uptake, digestion and vagal tone as everything is interconnected.

Out of curiosity would you say you were dealing with a lot of anger/frustration around the time these issues kicked in? It may not have been obvious or something long standing that came to a head. Just wondering for future reference and to build a clearer pic of your experience.
