100%. I was one of them dudes that would
slam 3 scoops of preworkout, have the tunes bumping and pimp stroll in the gym at 6AM on a Monday acting like it was 1AM in the club on Friday night.
To say I got it in was an understatement as I was addicted to the buzz of lifting and smashing limits. What made reality kick in was niggling little impingements and a decreased range of motion that was gradual but obvious due to muscle tightness as I was doing nothing but lifting.
Flipped the script because it was obvious where it was heading and am nowhere near the size I was back then but it all feels a lot more natural to my frame and current way of living. That and back when there wasn't all that much in terms of info accessible nor things like classes for stretching, yoga, etc unless you went looking for it as I always trained in those proper ghetto gyms filled with felons, old ass dumbells and the spirit of competition. Great motivation.
Ultimately it comes down to knowing yourself and how you do and my nature is quite competitive in that sense as I enjoy self betterment and always want to progress. With lifting that can be a dangerous mindset as you mentioned as there is but so much the body can handle when your spirit is itching to get it in.
I will say that as a jit its essential to max out your hormone levels and potential as I'm certain that doing that then helped me get to where I'm at so its
all about balance and options. Word to Quik.
