Exactly.

These sites are great for gamers and might actually turn people onto something new and different.

Game companies mad because these big titles get panned then no one spends 65 plus a season pass on their shyt.
I learned about so many great indies because of metacritic. So many great, new, risk-taking games, thanks to metacritic. This article is trash

Ps4 alone got 60 title with an 80 or above score, so I don't see the bytching and moaning about this being bad for games.

If anything that tells me there are 60 things that could be a good option.

He seriously said that?

Here's some classics.
Mario 64 has been dubbed by Mario stans as overrated and was just something to play since it was the only thing. Nobody goes back and plays it the way you would do super mario bros 3 or world. I would say mario kart 64 had more of an impact than 64

Outside of Halo(FPS console defining game) and GTAIII(open world sandbox) nothing on that list is impactful. You dudes are really going hard on this shyt like all the past generations had killer apps year one.

So how come no one ever mentions that game huh? I'm 26 miss me with the young shyt. Mario 64 is overrated that has not stood the test when compared to other games. Not even top five mario title. LOL@you tagging ppl like a dikkrider on shyt I didn't even say. Fight your own battles.

Key word there. What other games borrow concepts from Mario 64 other then generic first 3D platformer? All modern FPS are influenced by Halo. All open word sandbox shooters are influenced by GTA. Can't say the same for Mario 64

So is anyone going to come in here and rationally explain why Mario 64 wasn't an overrated game with clunky controls/boring star quest/bad camera angles or are we just going to goose steep like sheeps?

One guy. Sure buddy. meanwhile i have posted list at your request and none of them have that game in the top ten. But I like how you ignored my propositions but its cool. And stop putting words in my post to try to latch on to another talking point to make yourself look good. Mario 64 is a glorified tech demo.

I agree...the same way people use rotten tomatoes for movies, and whatever for music...people use these sites to dictate what they experience, which is just sad....

I don't think people use these sites to dictate what they experience, they use these sites to formulate opinions on whether the product is worth their time or money.

That isn't sad, that's being called a smart consumer.

We use Yelp for restaurants right? People research a car before buying it? They research the neighborhood they're moving to before buying a house right?

Why is it being considered a bad thing to research your purchases?

what?....if you use a site to formulate an opinion on whether you should spend time/money on something, is letting that site dictate what you experience...because if you do that, in most cases, whether or not you experience it is determined by how it's scored on said site....so you just said what I said in a different way...

no, that's not being a smart consumer and no, it's not bad to do research for a product...but we're not talking about comparing products, factoring in everything on how that purchase will affect your life, and going with the best product that would fit your life like a car or house...we talking about video games....you either gonna play it or not...if you choose to play it or not cause you decided it yourself, that's cool...if you choose to play it or not cause of what others think, that's not cool...i'm just saying make the decision yourself, and not based off what others think...cause what you enjoy, others might not, and vice versa....

.

No I am not, I`m saying you can't experience every piece of entertainment, people simply do not have the time or money for that.

Therefor people use sites like those to determine whether it's worth experiencing in the first place.

In your statement you just assume everyone can experience everything and there aren't limitations to the amount we can take in.

Researching a product before you but it is smart.

And you're saying "make the decision yourself" but what is that decision based off of? A commercial? An article? A youtube video?

Making decisions based off of user feedback is probably the smartest way you could make that decision.

Oh and on Metacritic the game scores even lower with the general pubic reviews

You're bugging right now breh. Ain't like games are free and we can just choose to play them at will. They cost money. People don't like to waste money, so they look at reviews. Sure the score at the end of the review is not the end all be all. But if a review describes a game that you know you wouldn't like, then you'd be an idiot to blindly go pick if up.

In reality people are just taking this stance now after several high profile games have bombed in reviews. I think it's a good thing that reviewers are being more critical of the games instead of just handing out high scores like they used to.

Motherfukkers are on some shyt right?

Like it's the review sites preventing us from playing these games, not the $65 dollar price point.

You give me a copy free tomorrow, i`ll have the game beat by the end of the week

Nothing is wrong with metacritic. If you want to point fingers, the gaming industry in general is to blame. These journalist and industry reviews at times do be on some funny shyt.

This game right here is a 79 on meta critic and yet many people who played it (myself included) will tell you it was one of the best games of 2014

Meanwhile this game...

Grand_Theft_Auto_IV_cover.jpg

Is a god damn 98 and is universally seen by gamers as a letdown in the series.

Meta critic doesn't tell the whole story but at the same time it is not to blame for the industry's BS.

People run into problems when they try to compare scores as absolute numbers.

You can't look at it that way. One game sitting at 80 and the other at 90 doesn't mean its unequivocally a better game. They have different scores for a multitude of reasons

It just means both are good games from my standpoint:manny:
