People run into problems when they try to compare scores as absolute numbers.

You can't look at it that way. One game sitting at 80 and the other at 90 doesn't mean its unequivocally a better game. They have different scores for a multitude of reasons

It just means both are good games from my standpoint:manny:

That's exactly how I feel.

Because we seen games get 10's off hype, mass hysteria or payola.

We don't see games get panned cause of these things

He seriously said that?

@Fatboi1 already quoted some posts there for you but if want context click on the quotes and check that thread.

I listed mario 64 as a generational defining game and dude swears up and down it wasnt.

Which again,if you were like 16 I can understand but if you were there theres literally no way you can deny mario 64s impact on the gaming industry. 3D camera and controls were revolutionized by mario 64. His quotes are wild in there.

Ever since we laughed him out of that thread hes been extremely angry and bitter even making threads about me and shyt.

I mean shyt he coud have just dropped it and we coud keep it moving. @Ciggavelli and I get into it all the time about metacritic but we still just keep it moving and theres no anger there. We just disagree on metacritic and its negative effect on the industry.

I never really care for music movie or video game reviews

It's all subjective

What you eat don't make me shyt
IMO game reviews are a bit different. There's plenty of objective facts and comparisons that can be helpful to the reader when it comes to game review. Its not all subjective like music and movies.

How about these companies and developers focus on releasing demos instead of crying about opinions.. Wtf if the game is a shytfest no one wants to pay 60 bucks for it.. Simple as that

"Mario 64" had the industry so shook Sony execs were sneaking to play it during the '96 Shoshinkai exhibition (the world's first playable demo of the game) just to get a look at it. I still got the Next Generation magazine from February '96 right here.

I dunno exactly what he said, and I don't have time to go read the whole thread....but painting "Mario 64" as anything other than ground breaking and extremely influential, is lunacy.

And that's why the numbers system doesn't work, because some people have in their mind that they will not even rent a game if it is below a certain number otherwise. It should be "This percentage of people liked it" instead of this trash numbers system they have up there now.

I think it will be beneficial as a whole if Metacritic and these other sites that aggregate reviews spit out the numbers that way instead. There is no need for a "MIXED" section, man up and either say you like the game or you don't like the game. Flaws be damned, if you think you like the game just fukking say so and note the problems you have with it in your in depth review.

Zeroing in on the number is also a problem, so many people don't even read IGN reviews...they go straight to the red section on the bottom. Read the + and - and the number.

It was a tech demo in the broadest definition of the term since it was a launch title....but....to concede that point, I'm racking my brain trying to rationalize what he meant.

I got a closet full of old gaming magazines. I can pull up quotes for days. I got one of the earliest....if not the earliest, appearances of "Tomb Raider" in a magazine, back when the game was just a tech demo. The dev team for "Tomb Raider" was worried it would be considered a "Mario" clone because the N64 title was bringing so many revolutionary game play elements to the table. shyt like that.

The only way to hold "Mario 64" in such low regard is to have no connection to gaming back then, and willfully ignore every piece of media or news from that era. It would be like claiming Jordan was a D-list scrub player with no notable career....it's just wildly at odds with reality, to the point of trolling.

I never said Mario wasn't influential. It was. But its overstated. You just said other titles were in development similar to it. Mario 64 just dropped first. Its overrated and doesn't hold up well. The sunshine statement was from a technical standpoint. The issues from the past game was fixed in terms of controls, camera angles, etc
