:yeshrug: coast guard basic training isn't harder than Army basic...And I'm almost positive that the Soldier had to have gone Jackson....And the Airman was also full of shyt.

But all basics seem hard when you are going thru them...it's the hindsight that will have you realize it wasn't that hard.

I went thru both AF and Army basics and judging by this thread shyts changed...I know army basic has changed I'm getting privates from AIT who can't pass a pt test.
Naw it is. Its the highest tiered basic training - you get through CG basic, and you don't have to go through any others if you switch branches.

I'm pretty sure their dummy weapons weigh more too.

:patrice: I have never heard that...the only branch I recall who got a pass for basic in all branches was the Marines.

Come on Breh I'm happy for your successful graduation of CG basic but some of us have been doing this military thing for awhile.

Maybe your referring to the CG reserve

the Coast Guard, non-Coast Guard veterans with more than two years of active duty service attend a 30 day basic called "Pit Stop." All others attend the full-Coast Guard Basic Training.

im pretty sure they go hard in the marines/army

but in the Air Force :patrice:

on some real shyt the training squadron i was assigned to during basic training, the TIs werent even allowed to make us do pushups/flutter kicks and stupid shyt like that when we got in trouble.. (long story)

my experience was :lolbron:

No wonder the US military has devolved.

I'm not lying man. You pass CG basic, you'll never have to go through another branches basic. I couldn't believe it either.

Not anymore. I mean, its still "bad" but in actuality its not too far from the same levels as your local university. Probably a little better but the issue now is finding the best system to report stuff. Either way, I can see a third party getting involved in it. Which probably should happen imo.

Another thing, it didn't really run wild at the lower levels. It was a really common misconception actually - its not the lower enlisted people doing the grime but the brass. They're the ones running prostitution rings, holding promotions, and all that shyt.

But most importantly - Never be put in a leadership position ever. Avoid responsibility like Zoe Saldana avoids Black men. Be invisible like Peyton in the Super Bowl. Quiet like a Big Sean album release party. When you bring attention to yourself, you become a target. You become a target, you get remembered. You get remembered, people wake up thinking about you - and fukkin with you becomes their only reason to wake up in the morning. Do not be that guy.
:laff:

But yo. can you elaborate on this point more.

I remember I was browsing this military webcomic site (I think it was this website, not absolutely certain but it looks like the one : http://terminallance.com/) where the dude would talk a little bit about his military days. He basically said that you want to get in the position where you are high enough on the food chain where nobody will fukk with you, but low enough so that you aren't really responsible for anything and can kinda just kick back and relax.

I'm talking about basic training. I think the other guy is just describing how to live as a scumbag through the early part of your military career.

In basic - just stay low.

Oh I see.

Yeah, I think you're right. He was talking more about how to game the system after you're out of boot camp....

Brehs, what is the racial reality of the military? I know that's a wide ranging way to put the topic, I did that purposefully as I just kinda want whatever y'all can throw at me.

My assumption has always been that most black dudes in the military were some stuffy, Allan West types of dudes.

Do brothas "stick together" or is it "every man for himself" or "squad before identity" or, etc etc etc?

Do people talk about these kinds of topics?

lol naw

honestly, the military is a bit of everything when it comes to race - and because people end up crammed in together at every stage of it, the racial animosity is probably the lowest I've ever encountered. Its still there, obviously, but its the only place you'd ever see deep south, good ole boy white guys shooting pool with kids from the rowdy side of philly like its nothing. And its not because of some band of brothers shyt either. Its because you ain't getting rid of the guy sharing a bunk with you or working on your vehicle for the next two years so you may as well get along. Its something people get over real quick. At least on the childish level.

That being said, when the option is there, people gonna clique together with like-minded individuals. Its human nature. Regarding black people though - I don't think I've ever seen us box another black out of a group. We're still a minority, and deep-rooted racism is still out there.

Depending on what you do, you may see more of the "I can't believe this urban youth/nikka/obvious infantry goon can read, spell, AND count" stuff (which is really stupid because some of the smartest people I've met are cooks and grunts)... mostly in intel, medical, and commo areas. Its still not as bad civilian side though where there's absolutely nothing in place protecting your job, career progression, or peace of mind from crap like that.

Also - you wouldn't even know I'm military once I leave after work. And a lot of people are like that. There's no hive think. Quite the opposite actually.

Went through Air Force basic training about 10 years ago. That shyt was easy then and if it's easier now then :mjlol: Most of that stuff is mental. They would yell make you do physical stuff if you messed up or punish the whole flight if one person messed up. I just kept my mouth shut, faded in the background and did what I was told and breezed on through.

Times changed maybe. He speaking on what he know. As far as I kno, marine basic was highest tiered.... then army, then navy.

Maybe it changed but at the end of the day, there are no more tough soldiers coming out of training. I don't know what is going on but its sad

If you haven't done uscg basic how can you speak on it? They both said uscg basic was harder during the debrief at the end of training.
