the protein doesnt just disappear, it just sits in your bloodstream(or ur gut)

and eating 1 big meal vs 6 meals has the same thermic effect because its more or less a static percentage

the 6 meals is a corporate marketing ploy that makes you buy more food(the more times you buy, the more profit)

:ohlawd: I always figured! But then people would counter that with "Protein that isnt stored turns to fat. I may be bias cause i prefer less meals due to working/commuting but it obviously worked for you so I'll say eff it and use this going forward.

protein that is not used in terms of overall calories, will be synthesized into fat

but the basic thermodynamic principle holds true

in a deficit = lose mass

in a surplus = gain mass

what kind of mass depends on lifting.

I would appreaciate it if ladies could chime in on this as well.

@Mi Rawtid, (I hope youre actually a girl) if not my bad

Anyways, I finally got my girl to start being proactive about exercise after hearing her talk over and over again about wanting to.

She currently is about 174 @ 5 foot 8. As you could imagine she got some meat in her thighs, a big (nice :jawalrus:) ass and some pudge in her tummy. She has begun using my fitness pal I think and says she wants to lose 10 pounds and maintain that wait.

Not ambitious enough to me, but this is about her. Babysteps as well...my hope is once she gets into the swing of things she will be a part of the "lifestyle" and continue slendering.

Her goals to put it simply:

Toning her body (mainly arms and legs)
Flattening her stomach/improving her core area

And if I might add, I would prefer that she gets more slim/slender :mjpls:.

What are some exercises or regimes that I should ensure are a staple in her workouts?
How many calories should she be eating a day to get down to 160 Lbs?
Would hitting the treadmill be a waste of time?

I would GREATLY appreciate any advice!

Eat your two meals and take in as much protein per calorie as possible :mjpls:

Sorry for not answering, I started and probably got distracted.

I won't be of much help but from a weight perspective, getting the diet in check was/is crucial for me. Before I introduced any exercise whatsoever, I stuck with the less than 20 rule (Calorie to protein ratio) and was able to lose about 1lb per week. I switched to a 15 or less rule and lost a little more but by that time I added cardio to the mix.

I haven't really gotten a strength training routine down but my goal is to target my arms, thighs and abs. She can lose 10lbs easy with the right diet but the right diet AND a strength routine is going to get her the results she desires but I've found dieting to be the hardest thing to control.

Yea diet even gets me. The issue is time and money. Shes a student so shes also a victim of that. But ometimes I see her eating stuff like yam which is full of carbs :ohlawd: among other foods. Ima start cracking that whip for real. Shes got on my fitness pal and has been using it extensively thoughs so.

My issue is that she was doing all of this without hitting the gym though....or like you said even getting much protein in for the matter. Shes going to Nigeria for the holidays so I aint even gonna bother until she comes back. But when she does :steviej:.

My doctor said anything more than 30g doesn't getting metabolized or something like that.

there is a fallacy with thinking that though

you assume that if you dont metabolize 70gs within one hour, the 40g left over is shyt or pissed out :smh:

the reality? the next hour you digest the next 30g, then the next 10g after that

not all doctors are "smart" :wot:

I was just sharing what my doctor said. No one way is the best or correct way and everyone should do what works for them.
