This right here.

Hav's been chopping since the early 90's. Large Professor and Premier taught him that first. Then on The Infamous, Tip taught him how to filter basslines. Dude was schooled by some of the best to ever do it. There's literally nothing Havoc can't do behind the boards.
Yeah Hav has more famous chop beats than loops.

They being said, most of his flips on this project sound fairly simple, and the beats have a lot of space in them. Which I like. They really let the vocals be the star of the show. ALC’s beats here have a little more going on in them in terms of extra collage work, layering sounds, and added sound effects. They compliment each other really well and they sequenced this thing superbly.

Fam, did you see Prodigy's daughter's face when she was talking her father being in a comic book?! Son is really making dreams people didn't even know they had come true. He won't be truly appreciated till after he's gone.

But back to the album, this an instant classic. I don't care what nobody say. Add another one to Mobb's catalog. I seen dudes on here calling Alfredo 2 classic. If that's classic, WTF is this? And yes this is their best album since Murda Muzik, which came out 26 years ago. Nas got a lot of love (rightfully so) for coming out with top 5 quality level projects 30 years into his career. Mobb Deep has now done the same. This the only album I heard all year that's fukking with the Clipse album for Album of the Year.
I’ve listened twice now and I’m not mad at this take. Clipse still got it but this is one of the best posthumous albums I’ve ever heard

This feels like they made it together

Exactly how I feel.. Having HER not only on a song but being able to put it at the end of the album was a flex.

I just wish they would’ve freaked the beat a little. I know they were probably going for the “Quiet Storm/Quiet Storm Remix” strategy but it didn’t quite pull it off for me. Especially because I feel Jorja did a MUCH better job than H.E.R.

But these are just nitpicks. The album is phenomenal and I probably won’t even end up skipping Part 2 months and years down the line.

Alfredo 2 isn’t a classic but its the third strongest album of the year behind Clipse and Mobb. The replay value of Alfredo 2 really snuck up on me, I like it more now than when it first dropped.

These two brothers… :wow:

Greatest group of all time? There are so many that I don’t think that will ever be a clear, unanimous, slam dunk argument.

But imo, there is no question that Hav and P are the most consistent group ever (honorable mention to De La, the real MVPs of the Native Tongues). I can call out the Tribe/OutKast/Wu/Clipse/Geto Boys albums where I go “ehhhh.” You have groups like NWA and PE that were super consistent and incredibly important, but over a smaller sample size. I STRUGGLE to think of another group that put out this much music and still sounds like THIS.

Shyt, look at their peers in the Legend Has It drops. Rae and Ghost both dropped solid projects. But you can hear their age: the wear and tear in their voices and flow (ghost especially), the production that doesn’t quite hit (Rae especially).

Meanwhile this shyt sound like it could’ve dropped in the early 2000’s.

Grateful I got to be here for the run these brothers put together… :wow:

I disagree with this. I love Mobb Deep. But there was a noticeable drop-off in P's rhymes after H.N.I.C.

There was a notable drop off on Infamy, when he was really sick with sickle cell. And then after that he just made a decision to change his rhyme style to more of a spoken word type flow. Way slower, and way more conversational, and less strict rhyming conventions. Expanded subject matter as well, diving deeper into conspiracy theory stuff and spirituality.

If you don't like it as much, that's fine. But a lot of people frame it to this day that P was trying to rhyme like he used to, but just couldn't do it. When the reality is he deliberately made a change to his rhyme style. He spoke on this several times during the 2010's.

One of the few artists to make a change fairly deep into their career, and it always bugged me that a lot of folks didn't understand that (love it or hate it) it was on purpose.

Alfredo 2 is amazing, though. The *only* knock against it for me is Gibbs was going through a lot with women while recording it, and so much of the lyrics are just so heavy on the sex bars, and it's got the least genuine substance to the lyrics of any of Freddie's albums. But Al's beats and Freddie's flows and cadences are absolutely top shelf.

I’m about to give Score Points a million streams the way I’m running it back :wow: :whew::banderas:
Alc's so good at doing super simple loops with hard drums and sprinkling in so many little extra textures and sound effects to keep it interesting and make it hypnotic, and keep it from feeling too repetitive. Score Points is a perfect example of that kind of beat. Others include Broken Bottles and Super Plug. There's lots of them, but those all stand out.

Edit: He actually makes My Era very similarly as well. It's just like one main sound with a lot of extra bass lines and creepy sounds sprinkled in. My Era sounds like a bad trip or a nightmare you can't wake up from.

Really strong album. I love that Against The World opens things because the minute P comes on that record it just gives me chills. Ever since I first hear the track...that shyt feels like he's drawing a line in the sand. Production wise Havoc really did his thing throughout. Love how often there's a low, menacing chord/string/synth that's just lingering in the air like an EKG. Even the ladies track sounds more like a threat than a love song.

Alc came through and complimented the vibe well too. Score Points starts with that Russian Roulette-era guitar loop and then bam, straight into some piano loop grime.

Rap wise, I fukk with the P verses on here although I def heard some of them before. Havoc did his thing. Nas, Clipse, Noyd...knockout feature verses. That NAS verse on Pour the Henny??? CLASSIC way to pay homage to P, man. If I hear that shyt in a couple months on a snowy night I might shed a tear lol.

Honestly my only complaint is the sped up P verse on Discontinued, and Down For You Part II which felt really weird/lazy. Like they got both singers to do the track and decided to include both. Besides those complaints this shyt is STRONG. Really good album. And after hearing this...Havoc, it's time to come outside. Call Conway. Do the beats and write all the hooks for him lol. Call up Roc Marci. Call a bunch of dudes man. Get some of these beats out, we need it.

Especially since they said they made 25 songs for this album and kept 15. I could've done without one of the Down For Yous in favor of putting on another new song.

I still think even though ALC deleted the tweet that he'll drop a deluxe version on his website within the next year with a few extra tracks. Especially with the reception being this good.
