One producer LPs never went away or came back, personally I don't see it as a trend. In reality it's just what you're paying attention to.
Other than that the Muggs albums definitely did make noise (and were dope), The Blu & Exile LP was big in the underground as was Madvillainy

Yep Prodigy was definitely up on it - the only reason I wouldn’t say it was a trend is because it didn’t really catch on….Alchemist was basically an in-house producer for Mobb at the time so it wasn’t out of the realms of possibility that Alchemist would produce an album for him - it’s like Pharrell producing HHNF….
Yep he had Monsta Beatz do TANM but I think he only made it a thing when he did Covert Coup - after that he was doing stuff with Fraud like Cigarette Boats and The Stage. That’s when Action Bronson and them started jumping on his wave and started working with the same producers that he was working with (even though Fraud was already working with French and them….)

Classic album but I wouldn't count Blu & Exile since technically they're a group like Gangstarr or Pete Rock & CL Smooth. But I agree that Madvillainy counts and was the album that really set things off in 2005. Then a year later DOOM did the album with Danger Mouse. Covert Coup (2011) is an undeniable classic and is probably the first seminal rapper/producer example during the blog era. And you know I gotta mention the Danny Brown/Black Milk album that came out a few months later that same year.
In general I'd give the credit to Madlib. After Madvillainy he also did noteworthy full projects with Talib Kweli, Percee P, Guilty Simpson, and Strong Arm Steady before 2011.
