It made sense last year, not this one. We didn't have play-in games when the season was shorter because of lockouts, and no one complained about it. Everyone knew coming in the season would be 72 games, so I see no reason to yet again reward lesser teams.

He's 100% correct. The play in system is a terrible idea. If the team wasn't good enough to finish in the top 8, too bad. Get better and try again next season. If you're going to do that, just out every team in the playoffs then

Basically there are only 6 guaranteed playoff slots now per conference. The remaining teams got to fight for it. So its actually harder for teams to make the playoffs now as a whole, not easier.

The point of the play in is to allow a team that otherwise wouldn't be in the playoffs to have a chance to play in.

At the end of every season there are a variety of factors that impact the last seeds. One of those being team resting players or tanking that may lift an otherwise undeserving team into the playoffs.

The play-in game is a quick fix for that.

No your wrong . It’s 7 vs 8 for the seventh seed . Then the loser of 7/8 plays the winner of 9/10 for the 8th seed . So the 7/8 loser only has to win a game to be in as either 7/8 while 9/10 has to win 2 games
