Listening to these simple, minimal, beats makes me appreciate the soul samples and the beat switches on the Hit-Boy albums that much more.

i grew up where Nas albums were discussed about his lyrics

Now you have to perfect conditions to listen to his music.

You got to listen in car with this type of system with these settings or you can’t appreciate it

Nas should just do verses til he has something to rap about.

One big long ass verse describes this album with long ass beat

Already half way in and as good as the Hit Boy run was (i advocated heavy for dude), this blows all of that out of the water:manny: Nas sounds like a totally different emcee on this. This is some straight up hiphop. Welcome back home breh :wow:
You are buggin my guy.

These beats are so underwhelming. DJ Premier my favorite producer of all time and I can honestly say he didn’t deliver. When nikkas start talking about you can’t listen to the beats in headphones and telling you what speakers you have to use, that means something wrong with the beats, not you.
If you dont have the proper speakers or a whip just say that. These damn basslines aint made for earphones Premo said it already

That's his world now. Those are the things that spark his interests.
3 Stacks stopped rapping due to stuff like, but cats was saying "why stop, just rap your current interest". Now when Nas does it (raps about his current interest), cats have a problem with it :mjlol: . I hope dudes understand why Dre put the mic down now, a breh just cant win.

The Hit-Boy comparisons are missing the point. Nas wasn't looking to replicate the style/switches/etc. he did with Hit-Boy. He clearly wanted to go in a different direction. It seems like Premo intentionally let the lyrics breathe or Nas picked those beats for that reason.

This right here.

The album is an homage to Hip Hop culture, Nas's career and NYC street politics. The real Nas fans understand that. There was an intention behind the production and the concepts on here. This wasn't just a bunch of songs thrown together. They said they wanted to paint a picture of appreciation and love for the culture with this project.

So if people are listening to this, and feel compelled to compare it to other Nas albums, or are saying sh*t like, "I just really wanted to hear more lush samples", then you're not a day one fan, and this project is not for you. You can always tell who the posers are. They ain't no damn Nas fans. Talking about "I wish Premier used different kicks and snares". You are not from the community, bro, lol. This ain't for you.
