What you're saying is the equivalent of someone saying that Don Mattingly is a Hall of Famer. Just because an album was dope doesn't mean it's a classic. Neither Black Sheep's album or Jungle Brother's album is a universal classic. Saying they are is fuel to these new age hip hoppers claiming that 90's heads think every 90's album is a classic. Neither of those albums had the impact that critical acclaim than Supreme Clientele or Liquid Swords.

That's not at all true because, what defines universal classics? What is the criteria? If we go by not just the people around us, but the general consensus than all those Native Tongues albums are classics. Both had the same or more critical acclaim than Liquid Swords and Supreme Clientele.

They're not all classics. Enter the Wu Tang and Cuban Linx for sure. Liquid Swords, SC, and Iron Man are arguably. Maybe Forever is arguable but that's a stretch. Nothing else on that list is a classic.

Edit: Starting with post #300 - @DANJ! breaks down ratings given to various artists from all over the map, all different types of hip-hop. It looks like the Source didn't have an anti-West Coast bias, or a pro "real hip hop" bias.

This list was published in January of 1998. To me, this was the perfect time to list the top 100 albums of all time, as Hip-Hop had just gone off the cliff and not much classic material has been made since then.
