That 2017 Cavs team is crazy overrated, they got a lot worse defensively and their NetRtg was worse overall as well. Anyone who has went against the Healthy Warriors from 2017 on was undermanned. Kyrie outplayed Steph in the two games in Cleveland but Steph outplayed Kyrie in the three games in GS while Kyrie had better efficiency, steph was better all-around.
Not only were they ass cheeks defensively, but their bench was awful and so were the role players. JR scored maybe 5-6 points the first 2 games of the series, Tristan Thompson had what felt like 2-3 scoreless games, nobody off the bench even turned in a 10 point game, and no big men came in off the bench all series. If I remember right, their bench unit in the finals was Deron Williams who played himself out of the league that series, Korver, Shumpert, who shouldn’t be in any contenders rotation, and Richard Jefferson, who I think retired after that series.

people try to underrate that 2017 Cavs team, they were a Really good team. they were loaded with talent and 3 point shooters. I believe they set a couple records that year too, like 3 pointers in a game by a team and Kevin Love scoring like 37 points in a quarter. people forget that team STREAM Rolled thru the East on their way to the finals.

The Warriors played a better "Team" game but the Cavs weren't undermanned by any stretch.

Kyrie outplayed Steph (AGAIN)

Kevin Love averaged just as many points as Klay did

out of the big 3 for both teams the only Cav that was outscored by his "counterpart" was Lebron, by KD.
Offensively that Cavs squad was all time level in reality. Defensively though they couldn’t stop shyt and didn’t even really try. Then add to the fact they couldn’t score at all without LeBron. If you only take the minutes LeBron was on the floor in those Finals it was extremely competitive IIRC. The separation wasn’t at the top, the separation came with the role players and the bench.

The rings during the Warriors run will always have the most credit as long as people apply effort to discredit them.

Move that Spurs team up, do you know who the second best player on that team was and the run they went on. That’s Duncan’s top tier run

Interesting list, nice thread. I would put 2014 Spurs in the first tier because they were coming for revenge of that heart-breaking 2013 loss and there were no significant changes on either team, and the Spurs just trashed the Heat and ended their chapter. Also quite possibly the best team basketball we've ever seen.
