Doesn't this hurt the constituents of the Union? A influx of 18 yr olds would take a job of a vet? How does this benefit the players? Just curious

So the NBA was losing money cause we were dressing the way we wanted to dress? Investors were giving the NBA ultimatums if the players didn't start wearing suits? The league was gonna lose TV contracts cause dudes were wearing baggy jeans ?:camby:

That shyt was racially motivated, the business angle was just used as a reason to get young black dudes to conform to what the white man wanted them to look like. People would, and were watching regardless.

The irony of an NBA player not being able to wear J's and having to put on a suit. On top of that, plenty of brothers were wearing suits on the bench and to press conferences; it's just that everybody wasn't. They made it seem like every black player dressed like Allen Iverson, which wasn't true. And so what if everyone did, we should be able to wear what the fukk we want.
Who are you breh:patrice:

The players need to be attacking the bull shyt rule of how american born players are only eligible for the draft 1 year after their graduating senior class finishes school. Where as foreign born players can become pros after they graduate high school they do not have to wait a year after.

That rule can be argued as racist as well.

That is not totally true. Even in the 90s the owners were complaining when dudes were coming out more and more after their soph and junior years. Then the contracts were longer and the owners were saying why should we pay this dude 90 mill contract over 8 years when he was only in college for 2 years.

Big dog came out and he wanted a 100 mill contract. After that the owners negotiated the rookie pay scale which sped up the college kids coming out because you could be a free agent faster instead of being like Jordan and playing on the same contract until you were in your 30s.

But even with the age thing the owners really dont care about the age. If they could sign these dudes straight out of high school for 10 mill over 10 years that would do it in a heart beat. The issue they have is if you come out at 18 or 19 years old you might get two or three max deals. The owners don't want to spend that much money. They rather a dude come out at at 22 or 23 from college and gets 1 maybe two max deals if that. That is why they like these foreign players too because they can get them cheap. Dude comes here at 27 that mothafukkas ain't never reaching a max deal. shyt like social security.....the government really don't want you to get it so they keep raising the age hoping some of these fools die off and never collect it.

It is always and I mean always about the money when it comes to these owners. Not the product cause these sports watered down. Not the health of the players cause they treat them all like rented mules and absolutely it ain't about the fans cause they could care less about then SIMPs.

But the middle-tier players is who this affects. They may only receive 1 great contract (dollar-wise). How do you think they feel about hving shorter deals cutting into the money that they could be making?

And I'm all for the age limit - 20 (2yrs of college or some other pro-league). It's not like these dudes are coming in with an immediate impact. It's not like staying in school will ever hurt their development. These dudes are not ready.

As for the gettin money/stopping black athletes from gettin money, my theory is this - it's a privatized industry. You want in, want to profit, you follow their rules; you don't complain - they don't have to accept you anyway.

I have a simple challenge for @FTBS and whoever else in this thread that's pro-age limit:

Name one HS bust that would've been successful in the NBA with a year of college and one good freshman-turned-pro who would've been a bust without that one year on campus.

If you can put real examples to your argument, even ones I may disagree with, then dap + rep. Otherwise, there's not a leg to stand on.

Uncertain grounds
Jobs can say whatever they want as long as the shyt is collectively bargained anpeoplaws are being broken. If players agree to it then :yeshrug:.

My bad I did read that wrong. What is there really to say if you are acknowledging the legality and the fact that it was collectively bargained? Walk into a law firm trying to be an attorney without so much as a college degree and no connections and see how eligible you are :heh:. Got to a Hollywood studio talking about I wanna audition for the lead in the next Avengers and see how you are allowed to apply.

Cuz these are equivalent comparisons to LeBron being "hireable" out of HS right?

Good. Let these young men earn money as soon as possible. Sports leagues operate like cartels and strangle free market principles in a country that's supposed to be about that.

I'm torn on this issue brehs...

Before 1 and done I was in 100% support of guys leaving out of H.S.

Now I'm not so sure. Its obvious that these kids should be able to succeed or fail at 18.

But I really enjoy seeing the top stars play in college :manny:

Also it helps certain players stay in college longer and either improve their game......or from a team making a bad mistake.

Andrew Harrison would have been a top 5 pick out of H.S....ehhhh :francis:
