I'm sayin tho bro u from Philly. I'm from NY born and raised. I remember clearly. the hate was nowhere near significant enough for these nikkas to consistently have a chip on they shoulder. honestly THEY are more region biased even till this day.
one of the greatest of all time when it comes to wordplay and metaphors
He does not get too much credit. Name one rapper considered to be all-time great that does not consider Rakim to be one of their biggest, if not their biggest influence. There aint one. He influenced EVERYBODY.
I'm starting to notice the agenda on this site, if you from the south and rap about basically nothing you good, while NY rappers with actual classics get shytted on, how is a thread like this even serious.
While I don't like someone like 50s music much nowadays, he honestly deserves a lot of props for birthing this mixtape era. Without him paving the way on the underground mixtape circuit, then transitioning into a major star, nikkas like Lil Wayne, future, Drake, Cole etc ain't where they at now.
NY rappers get toooo much hate, yall envy us tho.
You could put together a top 10 greatest of all time list, and all those artist could legitimately be NY artist. We just GOAT nikka.
like I said tho bro. I'm not denying bias. but nikkas act like they was just straight shytted on and hated on. when we was no more bias then they were.philly was bad. and it was worse in new york.
just cuz some out-of-towners had records that broke on our respective radio stations, it doesnt mean dudes werent biased.
you may not have been biased personally, but we cant pretend that the atmosphere on the east coast, especially new york wasnt filled with bias.
and yes, these other regions need to come to grips with the fact that theyre biased as well.
like I said tho bro. I'm not denying bias. but nikkas act like they was just straight shytted on and hated on. when we was no more bias then they were.
see. but thats what I'm saying. it was only a few cats who was truly on that hatin shyt. and u named one of em. and guess what?. just like u said. he still on that bullshyt. but from a street perspective. for the most part. if the shyt was dope. nikkas fukked wit it. nikkas favorites was NY artists for the most part but u gotta think about the shyt. NY and East Coast damn near singlehandedly holds down all time lists. and rightfully so. we the mecca of the shyt so majority of the greatest comes from here. that don't mean nikkas was on some straight up hater shyt like the south tries to say.i'd say the east was more biased. maybe not by a huge margin but yea, the east took the cake.
on the flipside, in current times, the south is the most biased region now, which is why i laugh when southerners complain about bias on here.
but yea, there was less-resistance to foreign artists on other coasts, as opposed to the resistance that the east coast showed. funkmaster flex is still waving his flag to this day.
I don't remember that at all. I was in the Bay.I was a huge Mobb deep fan back then and they were like the most hated rap group over here after pac dissed them.
Well saidhow do you get catapulted into greatness?
u either great or u not.
Small sample size or not those on your list are great mcs n nikkas on any coast will co-sign.
nikkas really wakin up wit ny dikk in they jaw![]()
