I'm convinced most of the people who say "don't drop the weight on his leg" never once attempted to make a tackle on a guy who has 30+ pound weight advantage on them, from an angle or from behind. No disrespect bro
I ain’t never met anyone who played defense in their life who is tryna break someone leg by doing the hip drop
It’s literally a technique they taught us, wrap up and drop your weight
shyt like this just makes defenders think twice before making a play, which ironically gets people hurt more
Good. It's a dirty tackle that has a very good chance to cause a significant foot or ankle injury.
I can't think of one nfl play where I saw a tackle like that and thought "yep the defender had no choice but to wrap him up, pull down, and trap the runners leg under his weight and the runners weight.

the nfl saw the Pollard injury. the Mark Andrews injury on the tackle. Pat Mahomes getting injured in the playoffs vs the Jags. then saw the college injury of Jordan Travis from that tackle and saw it needed to be out the game

#3 and #9 hesitating because they don't want to get a penalty hitting the QB in the head.Defenders now have to revert to shoelace tackles and flying at the offensive guys heads like a lion does an antelope.
This is awful ruling.
It's not the drop down part. It's the "lean back and fall on defenders leg to cause a serious ankle injury" part. You can’t drop down
You can’t hit low
You can’t hit high.
At some point the defense gotta get a break
