A
basic pass and catch touchdown gets Raider
Nation to their feet.
A basic INT gets Cowboy
Nation in a frenzy.
A Lamar Jackson touchdown also gets folks talking about contracts and get "Pay the man" trending.
A Justin Jefferson route got more than only Vikings fans talking about it.
The NBA and NFL are really not too dissimilar in this regard. There are both team and individual factors throughout basically every sport.
These are some pain points for the current NBA game:
I feel like the physicality has been lost in the game. A lot of games look like ymca pickup games to me
A lot of the time, the back and forth nature of the game is too fast and free flowing. A lot of segments in a game where guys are just hoisting up 3s, looking like they're at the Y.
Defense isn’t allowed and scoring 125 points per game is absurd. Not to mention the foul baiting, traveling and carrying, and inconsistent reffing.
it’s not a reason, but I dislike foul baiting/players selling the duck out of contact then giving the ref shyt for not calling it. Or even worse, getting the call
I didn't pull these quotes from this site either (from other places on social media), but you hear people on the coli mention stuff like this about the current NBA all the time. There's some honest sentiment to it.
There's simply something about big crowd, wide open field, big stadium, fast action, dynamic weather, fireworks, etc. that simply will draw people vs a small arena and small court.
NFL simply has a more "grand" feel to it.
The last time the NBA was
electric was when the Warriors style of basketball was still novel. Now everyone does it and it's ran the style of play dry (ymca ball). However, that style of play is seen as statistically the most efficient, so I really don't know where it's about to go from here. Teams aren't going to stop that style of play for aesthetics over effectiveness.
