Man I'm in dress pants and a button down M-F, the last thing I want to wear on the weekend or the afternoon is more slacks and button downs.

But I acknowledge the respect you demand when you moving clean in your late 20's and mid 30's

I'm 100% with you breh, but man my gear is wack and limited. I just don't feel confident when I step out of the house man. :mjcry:

I've had a lot of weight fluctuations over the years combined with the fact that I was trained to shop cheap. So the shyt I have is just that - cheap. I HATE the way I'm dressed on the daily man. Pants don't fit, shirts don't feel right, tie game is meh.:mjcry:

Any advice? I'm really interested in stepping my formal game up. It's an emergency. I don't really know the first thing about it.:mjcry:
dont cuff the pants, and decide which break you like in the pants. i prefer almost no break, everything else looks sloppy
dont get a jacket with 3 buttons, and definitely not double breasted :scust:
make sure the sleeves are showing just a bit when you wear a jacket
get 4 black ties, goes with almost anything. add some others as you go along. get a tie clip. and dont get any wide ass ties either. learn to tie them too. youtube will save you
get a pair of brown shoes and a pair of black ones. simple and not square toed
when you get measured haphazardly for a dress shirt, try one on in that size, a store will always have a spare shirt to test out. i ALWAYS get measured a half size up, so the neck feels aight but the shirt is billowing out. i order a 1/2 size down, the neck is real tight at first, but it will break in after 30 mins of wearing it.
get 3 white shirts and some others in colors that fit with your skin tone. then buy some sweaters for when you're not wearing a suit, but a nice sweater over a dress shirt with a tie is simple and looks good
most important, and i say this because i too was trained to shop cheap, fight that pain you get when parting with dollars. dont let thoughts like "my father would kill me for spending x amount of money on this shirt" or whatever creep in. because you're shopping for you, not for them
dont be afraid to tell the tailor he didn't cut your shyt right.send him back to the room until you get what you want. just tip him if you think you're running him. fit is more important than ANYTHING

follow this advice and you'll be well off. i kill at weddings because of my suits, i dont even gotta dance.

Normally, I'm a Timbs, Jordans, Supra collector (still am) and a casual guy who loves Lacoste polo's but not really a fan of dressing up

Well I'm transitioning between jobs, beginning internships, doing interviews and taking classes and you're required to dress the part.

The compliments you get :wow:

The looks you get :wow:

The way people TREAT you:wow:

I'm completely comfortable and content in rocking dress attire now... You just FEEL like you're about business... you FEEL like you're on point just because you look on point.

Even people in class acted differently towards me when I was on point. Even the instructors, who were dressed sharp themselves, were like :ehh: and went to me to actually assist during the class :wow:

I even went shopping for a new watch afterwards (and normally i don't wear watches.. a pet peeve of mines). And was about to cop it but they only had the display in stock.... I wanted it so bad because it would've definitely set the outfit off for tomorrow but I'll wait until next week.

Workout and dress nice brehs... you can't lose

congrats. youre a grown man now
