Now That CP0 Has Blown his 4th 2-0 Lead, Can We Agree The "True Point Guard" Title Is Meaningless?

T/s a casual who saw on the espn bottom line “Chris Paul the only player in history to lose 4 series after leading 2-0” then ran to make this thread

just to look like a fool when cp3 upped his scoring & led his team in scoring in 3 out of 4 of these series

2013 Blake griffin was a complete no show & got hoed by Randolph & 2016 cp3 & griffin got hurt in game 4.what does cp3 being a true pg who doesn’t score enough have to do with anything:dwillhuh:
He lost, breh

There's a mental blockage for a lot of folks on this board who're too stuck in their ways, and it's come to a point where they'll never get out of the mode of operating. It's half the reason for all the conflict on here because there's this black-and-white lens that the game is viewed through, and folks won't listen to reason why there are greater ways to measure the game.

It's no different to the box score stat phenomenon that consumes everyone's thinking. It's ridiculous you've got point out to grown men that what they've been watching for the entirety of their lives isn't reflected in those numbers.

Nah, his fans saw the Finals as a coronation. He was gonna finally get over the hump, win a ring, and in their minds...... cement CP3's place among the alltime greats.

Not only didn't that happen, but consistent with past criticisms, his team blew series lead, and he made poor decisions en route to pivotal losses....AGAIN
they werent even supposed to get out the first round
if someone told you before the season that theyd miss da playoffs or be a play in team, very few would argue.

they greatly overachieved even tho they couldnt get da job done

Cp3's scoring was the only thing keeping them in that game. In the 4th, he decided to defer to a Devin Booker and Ayton who are probably waking up in cold sweats about Jrue Holiday and Giannis. He just doesn't have that dog in him and would rather fukk up the pace of an offense by dribbling for 17 seconds rather than being decisive and aggressive with the ball.

The mentality of CP3 is a strange one.

He's not lackadaisical like Harden is, where it makes sense that he fades in and out of games, but there's this certain inhibition that stops him from playing to win. He's content with having the appearance that he wants to win, rather than actually trying to win. What makes it worse is, he's well aware of this because it's the reason he shamelessly tries to pad his stats at the end when the game is essentially over.

2014 was the worst choke job ever when Russ sonned cp3 in the OKC series

then he outdid himself with the blown 3-1 led the following year .
face it - playoff flame outs are tattooed to Chris Paul legacy
dude fouled westbrook on a 3pt attempt :mjtf:

then proceeds to turn the ball over in the last possession.

then KD absolutely murders him in game 6 at home

The CP0 Experience :wow:

Chris Paul is a fine player but he never seized the opportunity to take over the game.

Hell, many times Mark Jackson said “that shot is there for Chris any time he wants it” ….it would be certain spots on the floor or a couple of easy floaters.

But he never put the team on his back.
Yeah, he got his 20 points but where was the Chris Paul that ran shyt against Denver?

Well, I guess it’s easy to be the man vs Facundo Campazzo…

This is a team game and it’s not like the Suns lost SOLELY because of Chris Paul. But at the same time, I think people were looking for Paul to really dominate and make the most of his first Finals appearance. Instead, Paul was largely conservative. Particularly at times where the game was up for grabs.

Paul took 4 shots in the 4th quarter of a series-deciding game.

Same thing in Game 5.
You have to be more assertive than that in your 16th year in the league and what is probably your only shot at a ring.

Yup. Can’t blame it on shyt but his turnovers and passive ass play most of the game
the way he plays the game almosts demands that he plays passively

spends too much time tryna set everyone up and feed everyone else.

DJ augustin with surprisingly great rates :ehh:

In this era it doesn't. The bigs are too dynamic .

You don't need point guards to facilitate offense when bigs can playmake, shoot very well and be more impactful on defense than any 6"3 pg.

It’s not that serious team has no true bigs and is full of high scoring, marginal playmakers. U combine that poor chemistry with smaller court and zone defenses and true bigs pounding inside and disinterested USA guys this is what you have.

I be tryna tell nikkas on here about Durant bu bu but he has no weaknesses. :duck: :mjlol:

The USA is by far the best playing basketball nation but it’s time to put some respect on the world. At the end of the day all these guys are professional hoopers none can be underestimated. It’s time nikkas understand basketball is a team game.

You have a definition or criteria of a true big, which is basically a traditional definition.

now what is your definition of a true point.

I've been saying this for years. Only dumbass mfers trying to hang onto the past will gas this archaic "true PG" shyt.
You dapped @ISO ‘s post regarding true bigs, does the “true” distinction only matter for guards?

True big as in true 7-footer. Bam is 6’9 and Dray is 6’7.

No one said true PG. I said a game manager someone that knows how to control the tempo in different moments, someone that knows when to score and went to pass, a well rounded guard that also has some impact defensively that’s what Team USA needs. There’s a difference between Kyle Lowry or a James Harden and Mark Jackson.

Team USA in the past had guys like Bron, Iggy, Kidd, CP3 who can manage a game and make plays. Team USA team is not balanced.
