Now That CP0 Has Blown his 4th 2-0 Lead, Can We Agree The "True Point Guard" Title Is Meaningless?

Above the fray.
I am still waiting to hear wtf Isiah did that CP3 can't and hasn't done.

Isiah had a roster and coaching that CP3 has never had. Three players from that squad are in the HOF (Isiah, Dumars, Rodman) not even counting Laimbeer who was a 4x All-Star and Aguirre who as a 3x All-Star. Then you have Vinnie "Microwave" Johnson and James Edwards who could easily give you 14-15ppg too. That team was STACKED.

IT averaged just 18ppg in that first Finals run and was at best the 4th-most important defender on the court yet people in here talking like he was a tier above CP3 just cause his team was good.

27yo IT in 1989 postseason: 18-4-8 on 41/27/74 splits
36yo CP3 in 2021 postseason: 19-4-9 on 50/45/88 splits

And don't talk about clutch games either cause CP3 balled the fukk out in every one of the biggest games.
Give it a rest. Your guy is on the bad end of blowing a 2-0 lead AGAIN.

Nothing you write will change that.

Yet at 36yo he was by far the best perimeter player on the court in Game 6 of the NBA Finals.

Suns lost cause they couldn't defend the Bucks for shyt, not cause of anything CP3 did or didn't do on offense.

Here is Chris Paul owning up to the mistakes he made offensively in game 4....and how costly they were

I'm sure at each post game for the four losses, he owned up to his turnovers, miscues, and bad decisions on the offensive end.

Are we supposed to believe you or the actual player discussing his own Finals performance?

A player being self-aware and critiquing his own errors somehow means that player is inferior to Isiah Thomas? How did that work in your head?

Here are some of Isiah's performances in his 1989 title run:

7 points on 2-7 shooting
3 points on 1-9 shooting (1-3 from the line)
10 points on 4-17 shooting (2-4 from the line)
11 points on 3-9 shooting
9 points on 3-18 shooting (3-6 from the line)
33 points on 12-27 shooting (8-12 from the line) with 6 turnovers
5 points on 2-8 shooting (1-2 from the line) with 4 turnovers
33 points on 12-28 shooting with 4 turnovers

Craziest shyt is that his team was so stacked, they only lost two of those games! they were 15-2 that postseason. But CP3 couldn't have equaled those contributions?

You are pivoting/juelzing/ducking here.

Chris Paul himself blew up your "nothing he did or didn't do offensively had anything to do with the outcome of the series" angle.

criticizing chris paul after the run he just had is retarded. there's not a pg in the league who coulda done what he did with phoniex and even okc last year.

and hes a 36 year old.man, out of his prime.

u guys have no shame

there were no losers in this finals

chris is still the point god
Nah, his fans saw the Finals as a coronation. He was gonna finally get over the hump, win a ring, and in their minds...... cement CP3's place among the alltime greats.

Not only didn't that happen, but consistent with past criticisms, his team blew series lead, and he made poor decisions en route to pivotal losses....AGAIN

T/s a casual who saw on the espn bottom line “Chris Paul the only player in history to lose 4 series after leading 2-0” then ran to make this thread

just to look like a fool when cp3 upped his scoring & led his team in scoring in 3 out of 4 of these series

2013 Blake griffin was a complete no show & got hoed by Randolph & 2016 cp3 & griffin got hurt in game 4.what does cp3 being a true pg who doesn’t score enough have to do with anything:dwillhuh:

OP

The Mavs title run wasn't lead by their point guard, but he was a key component orchestrating the offense and playing defense.
Dirk and Jet shot lights out, but they don't win the ring without Jason Kidd.

Chris Paul shortcomings don't mean that the position is meaningless.

Yeah, what is this thread even about? CP3 is immensely skilled, but isn't a warrior. To dump on the PG position because one of its greatest practitioners is mentally weak isn't fair. 4 years from now you could get some crazy PG with Nash and PG's skill but is a killer like MJ.

Yeah, the optics of this loss are horrendous. You cannot be up 2-0 in the NBA Finals against some nikka who hyperextended his knee badly and then lose 4 straight to that team with that man beasting. This was a legacy series for CP3. Win it, and you're a certified top 5 PG or better; lose it, and you're a skilled mental midget. He ain't playing the 90s Bulls or GSW. This was his series to take.

How you asking something that should be obvious to everyone by now?

Essentially, the archaic standard of what is a PG is irrelevant, and has been for some time. Not the PG position, in general. Just the "true" PG, which folks use to cover up for the fact that PG has flaws in their game. You're a Wall stan, so I don't expect you to digest this well.

Steph Curry fans are really emotional about the "True Point Guard" title

They mad their favorite player never handled the majority of the playmaking duties when he won his titles :dead::dead::dead::dead:

Keywords there: won his titles.

Something that CP3 stans will never be able to say about their mans.
