NY Started Grills, So Why Does The South Claim To Have Started it

I've got pics of both of my parents with gold teeth back in the 70's (they both took them out years later) hell my grandmother was 84 years old when she died last year and had golds when she died and before I was even born. It's a gang of mexicans down here in the south that rock golds too straight from Mexico with it fam and it has absolutely nothing to do with NY. I aint talking about none of that corny pull out grill mess I"m talking permenant golds.
I wont even get into who did it better anybody thats seen a real set (SlimThug, Birdman,) already knows who really did/does it better not none of that ol candy machine or $99 grill in a hour mess from Sharpstown either.

...im sure someones grandparent had them years before any rapper but when we talking about shyt on a hiphop forum we talking about who started it in hip hop...in ny we never called them grills...they were always called fronts...1st person i ever saw with a jerry curl was my mans uncle...should i take that away from the westcoast and say my man's uncle had it 1st? or should i say the westcoast made it popular in hiphop?

1.Breh its not like people started wearing grills in the 50's and stopped wearing them until new yorkers brought em back in the 80's. Non new yorkers were wearing fronts/grills/golds in the 60's/70's/80's. Im talking about teens/20's/30 year olds not just grandmas.
2. If dude said brought it to the forefront of hip hop I would agree but he flat out said started it.

You have to remember this is the 70's/80's nobody else was getting shine like new york (until NWA came). So everything new york did was forefront bringing/new . With your logic you could say new york "started" braids because in "The message" both them dudes got braids.
