Not only that but they are also going to start hiring more in markets with lower COL so they don't have to pay as much out in salaries. I think that's part of the fear of places like NYC, LA, San Diego, and San Fran. No reason to keep jobs in those cities when you can hire someone remotely and pay 50K less for the same job.

I know when I was looking for a job Wells Fargo was in the process of moving a lot of their jobs from Cali to STL, Richmond, and Charlotte for that very reason.

There are some huge dominos in place. A lot of companies moving their HQ from NYC which fukks the corporate real estate holders. With jobs leaving it could lead to more people moving away from NYC since the remote salaries won't be as much as working in NYC. So now that's a lot of salary and taxes leaving the city as well.
Yup

Also....for those of you working from home, what kind of productivity monitoring software do your orgs use?

He's extremely out of touch. No need for going into the office

for labor jobs...there's 2 directions this can go for low wage labor jobs, either you control a robot remotely/extended reality(sort of VR)

or the robot is autonomous

I've been working from home for 12 years and neither company had any productivity monitoring software. I work as a product manager though so our jobs aren't really measured by productivity anyway. As long as we get software out the door with expected features we're good.

Adams and Hochul are doing everything but address the actual problem - mass transit infrastructure and costs.

It's $5.50 per day round trip to go into the city on a dirty, unreliable subway. I can't tell you how many times my express train changed to local or the 5 to dyre switched to Neried (or vise versa) and I wound up on the east 180th street platform for like an hour. Same shyt on the 6 train and every other line uptown.

The alternatives are $13.50 /day on the express bus to spend 2hrs stuck on the Bruckner or about $21/day on the metro north switching trains at Fordham or getting on the bus/train anyway.

Nobody is going back to the office until they can get there cheaper and faster than whats available now.

Why are people so thirsty to still work at home?

It was one thing during the height and prime moments of COVID-19 but we're way past that now, and by that I mean yeah sure covid still around but it definitely ain't like it was during it's prime weeks and months.

Working from home was never meant to be a permanent thing so I don't understand why people are appalled at the idea of going back to work in an office, sit inside a cubicle, etc (if that's the kind of job they are working) when that's what they've been doing prior to the pandemic.

Bosses and managers aren't fans of working from home because they can't keep tabs on you, which is understandable as a person could be slacking at home and not working the days and hours they're supposed to be working but will mark themselves as doing so.

Obviously not every job can be done remotely. But for the ones that can this is the best option. It can save people money on childcare, travel, and food. It can save you time, help you get more sleep, and a better work life balance.

Some of this office space can maybe be eliminated or make more space for housing or any number of other possibilities. This could potentially help save on energy and other resources if you eliminate so of this office space.

Office politics and small talk at the break room won’t be a thing. Lol

New York progressives have made solid gains down the line as reps, but they really dropped the ball with Adams and Hochul's combination. We have reps that would be down to advance left legislation in a manner that could be really influential...but instead they're fighting to even shift the judicial chambers left, and Adams is out here being goofy AF as usual.
