Free education is not mandated by the Constitution.
Defense is. If you are not smart to know that you have to go to college and pick a better major then stay home and get fast food job.
I will sympathize more with the bums if they got in debt getting by getting high level degrees.
You deserve to be in debt for being a liberal arts major.

At the very least....it will give people hope who have in their mind there is no way for them to raise themselves up.
Also...dont forget that a lot of people use CC's to learn a trade.
Out manual labor workforce is under educated and there are a lot of jobs that cant be filled because the workforce isnt up to par for what these jobs need.

As much as I fundamentally disagree with him Obama is the undoubted GOAT president at this point.
And before we start complaining about cost, I say we pay for it with the refunds we gave GE and Exxon last year. If we can invest billions intax breaks for corps we can invest 4 grand per student to educate people and actually increase our tax revenue.

Dude youre using the wrong argument here. We will not and should not cut defense spending lol, what are we Britain pre world war 2? Na we should take the billions in refunds we gave to corps that play 8 an hour like wal mart and mcdonalds and use this money to educate the workers you would say they are 'exploiting'. The same companies whose employees are all on food stamps. We dont need to cut anything to implement this! They take the middle classes cash and hand it to the corps I say now its the middle classes turn.
If the argument is Lockheed and Northrup vs Community colleges the contractors win every time. Its time to hold these corps accountable for not wanting to advance the educational interests of folks as obama would call them.
The problem is we spend too much... and justifying further spending with "this is what we should be spending on" ultimately does more harm than good.
I would have liked to have seen some deep cuts in other areas along with this...

Na fukk that man, were the largest debtor nation in history if we wanted to spend more on education we would not have to cut anything to do it. The capitalists want workers not educated thinkers, and thanks to clinton's GATT and NAFTA they no longer need Americans for labor.
You're compaining about a symptom of a larger problem: Government at the federal level has been proven to always behave the way rich people want it to, rich people want to spend a shyt ton on defense. Like 90 percent of the issues you(or really anyone) bring up politically are unsolvable as long as the 2010 Citizens United ruling remains the rule of the land.
