People who did well in HS should get free college.
This I can agree....
I didn't do good in highschool because I was a young kid who didn't see the importance of it, yet I graduated with a 3.0 with a bacehlors in accounting, I don't think highschool performance should be a measuring stick.

Na fukk that man, were the largest debtor nation in history if we wanted to spend more on education we would not have to cut anything to do it. The capitalists want workers not educated thinkers, and thanks to clinton's GATT and NAFTA they no longer need Americans for labor.

You're compaining about a symptom of a larger problem: Government at the federal level has been proven to always behave the way rich people want it to, rich people want to spend a shyt ton on defense. Like 90 percent of the issues you(or really anyone) bring up politically are unsolvable as long as the 2010 Citizens United ruling remains the rule of the land.
the government ARE the rich people :mjcry:

The problem is we spend too much... and justifying further spending with "this is what we should be spending on" ultimately does more harm than good.
I would have liked to have seen some deep cuts in other areas along with this...

...or maybe a variation of this which actually funded students that want to go to college.:usure:Meaning they have completed a 4yr degree.
IMO this will end up being just an extension of high school.

I totally agree man. Low key this is treating the symptom of the problem which is our k-12 system aint good enough.

Dude I was writing code at 16. It was your fault for not taking school seriously.
Smart kids in high school usually turn out well.

Most people would agree if that's what was proposed. No point in giving free education to someone who doesn't value it.

When you say didn't do good what do you mean, like a C student?

Do you think the guy who barely showed up and scraped by with a 66 average should have his college tuition paid for? Why?

I'm not a liberal

I want college to be free for all american citizens, because it's good for society

Congress just spent 120 million on tanks that the military doesn't even want. Are you mad about that? You're getting mad at people wanting education.

You all really think it's fukking wise to put your entire young generation into debt just to get a fukking degree?

I find it crazy that people are upset that college will now be status quo. Fuk some have even said it'll make certs worthless...the point is they already are worthless.

Can someone please explain to me how having a more educated populous is a bad thing?

lol at this limousine liberal switcharoo logic...No one is arguing against having a more educated populous...The argument is about the Department of Education using flimsy requirements and a decreasing budget to try to push this nationally...but again it wont make it past the house or senate so its a moot point...this nothing more than a doggie bone to get liberals in a tizzy for 2016

Not a supporter of Obama or any political bullshyt propaganda, but this should be a good move for allot of people that wants to persue their degree. Free education for two years sounds good to mi, since I'm an college dropout as well ( still 20 years old). Only if CONGRESS pass this, and not raise taxes it would be a good move.

Neg on sight some people don't get it until later in life doesn't mean they shouldn't get a chance.

Japan, but from the 989
This is a good idea. It's about time. But for the younger brehs this is a golden opportunity to flip those community college credits to the four year colleges.

So it's just free? Or did "willing to work for it" mean anything?

I'm all for more people being educated at low/no cost, but would like to see something like a mandated community service in exchange for that education.
