The biggest takeaway from this is that the Democrats participated in a battle that they knew they weren't going to win. I feel that is real reason people are angry. Republicans simply had too much leverage over them to begin with so for me it was hard to see a situation where the Democrats would get exactly what they wanted. That was never going to be on the table.

So even in a shutdown caused by the Republicans, who controls both houses of Congress and the Presidency you are still finding a way to blame the Democrats.
