Should the #2 seed go back to receiving a bye for Wild Card Weekend?

Some variation of this thread is made after every week. Fans have leaned to far into believing sports are "entertainment". It can be entertaining but it's a competition first.

Except the NFL is not a sport and they legally said so in court. They are soley an Enertainment company. Which is why if/when betting becomes universal, their asses will be covered by any scripted shyt.

The way fans complain about blowouts they probably would prefer scripted anyway

It ain't really about seven seeds. The 5th seed in the NFC and the 6th seed in AFC got spanked.

Only two games were hotly contested this weekend and those are the Bengals and Raiders and the Cowboys and Niners. And even those were controlled throughout by the winning team and there was only a late push by the losing team. We just had a bad weekend of football in terms of competitiveness.

Go back to only 6 playoff seeds in each conference & 16 regular season games.
This

In addition rank the seeds by records for the playoffs. Division winners dont autonatically make the playoffs either divisions are just used to schedule games not to affect playoff seedings

There's no need for a 7th seed. These leagues are creating artificial hype by turning subpar teams into "playoff teams" via expansion.
If you are the 7th seed, you being in the playoffs is more about the league squeezing out some extra $$$ than it is your team being a real contender.

Best of luck winning three straight road games vs top teams, then beating the best team from the other conference when you are the 7th best team in your own.

Yeah, the Eagles were really going to win @TB, then @GB then probably @LAR. And we're supposed to pretend the Steelers had any chance to win @KC, then @Tenn, then probably @Buffalo.
