From what I've experienced, it's all in the Suhoor (the meal prior to starting the fast).
Stay away from excessively sugary or salty foods as they only make you thirsty. Foods like yogurt, avocados, beans and leafy vegetables are all great. Don't worry too much about chugging a bunch of water; there's only so much you can hold. It's easier to stay away from foods that will dehydrate you. Hide from the sun as much as you can, if possible. Water retention is the most important thing.
I'm hoping to shift my gym schedule to the last hour of the day before breaking my fast. I know it seems crazy, but you'd be surprised. Get there, do your workout, and when it's time break your fast with some water and a protein bar or something.
If anyone has anything to add regarding diet, routines, etc., please share!
