A lot of Miss Jessie's products cause product build up (especially if you're heavy handed). Try incorporating oil underneath whatever you use to style your hair.

You can also try an apple cider vinegar rinse to clarify your hair.

The smell of ACV is atrocious but the results are worth it. I heard using baking soda is good to clean the hair/scalp but I never tried it. Youtube has a plethora of videos on various subjects when it pertains to hair, it's extremely helpful to say the least.

Once you know & understand your hair type, it's nothing but smooth sailing from there
