Essential Official Random Thoughts Thread (Ladies only)

I received a response from the woman about the job. I told her my salary (Way over than what I'd be ok getting) and she wants to see my resume but of course I don't have a copy with me. MotherF!! I think I should have asked for $5,000 more just to see what she was going to see.

I received another opportunity where they are looking for resumes ASAP (her words) but again no copy of my resume. The location is closer to home and for that I will most def ask for some inflated ass salary. I'm going to reply when I get home.

With all that said, my job ain't half bad. I'm getting more involved in things like budget forecasting and such but I don't have any input or anything. Plus the company is expanding like mad so there is a need for what I do but at the same time they aren't trying to make me full-time anytime soon sooooooo. This one lady was a contractor since 2010 and just got a full-time offer. 3 years ain't bad but still.

leh'go! & thanks....mother nature's doing most of the work...i just have to weed, feed, and spray for bugs i also love using my lil bit of land in the world for a purpose...and it will be fun for you to tend a lil garden along w/ lil mama...does she like her veggies?

...i would suggest starting out w/ a simple raised bed garden like mine because it's relatively low cost, space saving, "easy" to breakdown after the growing season, easy to tend when low on manpower, and has plenty of room for a variety of useful/yummy veggies/herbs/fruits...also look into garden bags (they try to sell that bullshyt at lowes for a grip but i just use those giant blue ikea bags)

hit me w/ questions when u get closer to starting and i'll be more than happy to share my insight....but get a few pots and start something now just for fun...it makes me happy to see life pushing up thru the dirt and knowing you help make it possible

The only space I have is on my deck that gets TONS of sun. I actually tried growing some things in pots but I didn't have enough drainage and drowned those poor seeds (RIP). I did grow SOMETHING in the one pot that had drainage and it's sprouting up nice buuutt the day I went to plant everything is was windy and the packs of seeds blew all over and I didn't label anything. I was just trying to stop everything from blowing all over the place LOL! It was a mess.

I like how you used the cinder blocks and kind of created a space. I thought that was super creative. Is it too late to start now? Could I do some fall or winter veggies?

lol....sometimes u gotta salute the fallen soldiers...i can't even begin to think about how many times i've killed stuff or messed it up somehow...don't let that intimidate you tho

the main thing is understanding the different types of plants you want and what their requirements are...then finding the right combination of what works best for the space/sun you have...everything doesn't need full sun for instance....like your greens and leafy things...they prefer shade

and look at raised beds on lowes or home depot....a bit more expensive than my cinderblocks but cleaner and probably easier to breakdown and clean with a deck....also google vertical gardens (using pallets) ....trust that your space can work but you have to be creative to use it to the best advantage for your growth...potted tomatoes are easy! as are most herbs....but maybe you wanna try cucumbers which climb ...so you can use the deck siding as a already there trellis! be creative!!!

Thicky...tell me more about these roasted greens? i like to saute swiss chard or any of the greens w/ a lil bit of sea salt, white pepper, and ovoo

I'm jelly!!! I can't wait to move into a spot with a private balcony so I can get my green thumb on again.

I roasted swiss chard (white because the red was too damn expensive), collards, and kale last night. Seasoned with a little salt, paprika, chili powder, and evoo. Tossed it in the oven and let it cook, in the end it all tasted the same to me, not much of a diffrence.

Roasted cabbage tho I love it! I do salt, black pepper, and evoo and let it cook in a 400degree oven for about an hour and half (I like mines kinda krispy) toss it as you go and let it cook. Add some red onions or carrots to it for added flavor. I have to find the picture of a braised cabbage and carmelized onion soup I did because its soooo many things you could do with it.

So I've been essentially starving myself in the day aka intermittent fasting. Anyway I was hungry as crap when I came home so I made some rice to go with the red beans I put in the crock pot on Sunday and pan seared some tilapia. Talk about yum!! When healthy eating goes right!! Now if only I could do this on the regular.

Now Thickums has me wishing I had some cabbage to go with it.

It was hell and a half.

My day has been kinda shytty, realizing right now what I'm doing isn't paying the bills. Two more months of this internship and hopefully I'll be a full time employee.

Good luck on converting that internship tho! I realize I really like this new job. It's super chill. I might even try to go permanent and work this job around my school schedule in the fall. Or maybe I should just stick with my original plan and focus on school
