Who knew that side effects for a medication I've safely taken (PRN) for over a year would just switch up on me today? I have taken opiate pain medications several times without issue, both intravenously and orally. This is new and not the normal mild itching I've experienced before.

Histamine release + dihydrocodeine = a very unhappy (and extremely itchy) Lithe. I just took 25 mg Benadryl tho, and told my neurologist's nurse after I got out of class, so hopefully we can find another rescue medication solution tomorrow/soon.

I'd almost rather have the migraine than this! It's beyond frustrating to have to trade one pain for another.

So yesterday's bad reaction to my medication must have been something different. I didn't put 2 and 2 together until late last night, but it could've been a flare in my allergies causing a major histamine release! The night before, we had a storm, pollen counts are extremely high, and there is a dogwood tree in bloom right outside my door.

I took my rescue medicine today with no issues, but if I have any issues, there is another medication we can try. Feel a little out of it (had a slow start this AM/felt slow moving all day) because of the Benadryl. S'all good tho... I've got a brownie hot fudge sundae with caramel in my hand, I'm relaxing and watching the voice. Winding it down for the night!
