While I get where people are coming from, it's just hair. I mean, really. I think we as black women do entirely too much in talking about it, having meetups about it, etc.
Everywhere it's hair this, hair that, natural, not natural, etc.
We are entirely too defined by it.

Maybe she shouldn't have said "good mix for growth", but otherwise I don't see the problem. We may not say it out loud, but I'm sure we all notice a trend with racial mixing, hair texture, and the ability to retain length. . *shrug*
If she was all "woe is me" about how hard her hair journey is, some people would roll their eyes anyway.

Not a damn thing. I feel like people are up in arms over semantics. So what she didn't express herself with scientific terminology; you don't have to be some kind of genius to get the gist of what she was saying.
Folks just wanna have something to get up in arms about, because she's a mixed person acknowledging her heritage and how that pertains to her appearance, including hair.
While we're talking hair, I got an unsolicited earful from an AfAm co-worker who asked me if I was natural or not. The earful came after I said no.
It was all "free yourself from perms and I'm so glad I'm not a slave to the man anymore, and you don't love yourself" and stuff.
This is during midterm time and I'm on my 3rd batch of papers to grade.

lol'd @ 'good mix for growth'. How did she not realize that wouldn't go over too well. She could have worded it differently, but it is kind of annoying how overly PC the black hair community has become. It's taboo and blasphemous to acknowledge that a person's racial makeup may have something to do with hair growth and length.
