She did pretty good today. She's zipping through the 2nd grade stuff like she did it before They are talking about having her sit with the 3rd graders but I dont want them picking on my baby It'll be columbine 2.0 in that piece if they mess with my girl

So I gather she's in 1st? When I was in 1st grade, they wanted to move me into 3rd. My Mom wouldn't let them- I was sooooo bored in school even in advanced classes. Could have graduated at 16

BUT her reasoning, was tied to the social aspect. We'll never know...

I wish they had advanced classes for her age range out here. Nope she's in Kindergarten! The principal her teachers are just allowing her a chance to sit in with these other classes and kinda gauge where she's at.

The principal told me the same thing (in regards to the social aspect). It's best for her to be around kids her age so that she learns how to interact and whatnot. I'm super proud of her I just dont want her to get bored and start acting out, ya know?

Maybe they can give her upper level work? Send her to an upper level class for only a part of the day or something? They had multiple programs for kids like that when I was in school. I was in a lot of them. I loved it. They had a great transition for about 10 of us. We spent time in a different class by ourselves and also in other upper level classes.

Awww smart little one!! That's awesome that they recognize it though, and are working with her. Hopefully they can tailor a program for her that she can visit the upper classes on a regular basis- or just send work down (they did that with me).

Oh, you for sure will here. There are SO many programs now for gifted children.

I would make sure as she gets older, to push her education wise. I did really well until highschool when I started losing interest. I was offered a program where I could take special classes and have a year of college under my belt at graduation. Didn't do it, just my normal AP classes. Sure I graduated with a good GPA, but I could have gone so much further. I was a bookworm until HS, then my activity was boxing. Wasn't pushed in that aspect either. I didn't have much guidance, was left to my own devices. Not a good idea- but obviously you won't be like that!

Oh definitely! Her dad and I are real strict when it comes to her education. He's been talking about putting her into some kind of sport but...personality wise I just don't see her sticking with that for long. She's into the arts and sciences but they don't offer those kinda of programs for her age range regardless of her skill set *sigh*. I'll do my research and find out what the U.S. has have to offer. Hopefully i'll find something good! Thanks for the info btw it's greatly appreciated!

I didn't graduate super early because I was 15 and a punk. I finished my advanced diploma in the 10th grade. I got college credits and AP credits 11th grade. And my entire 12th grade year I got out at like 10am. I had one class distance learning class and homeroom and thats it. I graduated at 17 in the top 10 of my class, scored really high on the SAT and ACT. I got a full scholarship to one school and a partial scholarship to another. Turned them both down because they were too far form my boyfriend. Book smart is nothing without common sense. But my mom knew NOTHING about education. Stay on her. You learn so much better at a younger age so if she is ready for the next level let her have it. If they dont have something that will keep her brain stimulated she will suffer in other ways. She may act out or with draw or regress. I had MAJOR behavior problems because I was bored.

I loved it. It's a good workout, and it didn't hurt to have a little confidence too. Back then though, I was one of VERY few female boxers- so I never got to fight in a match. There were never any in my weight class. My coach was a family friend, so he let me spar with boys (which was illegal), so that's the only time I really got to fight.
