There is a few OKC fans in this thread and maybe some Pacer fans. The rest is a mountain of haters. Dudes literally just proving the point they don't watch basketball. Whining about everything Shai does, the man just gets buckets. Never mind that Nembhard and Nesmith have been allowed to hold and foul him all game. He shot 50% for the game while being the sole focus of the Pacers defense. Every player does the off-hand push off, even the college players use that a lot.

People love the underdog. The story is compelling. OKC is coming across as the douchey 80’s/90’s TV bully compared to the one kid who could possibly beat him up.

Yea people love the underdog, but the rest is false. That's some BS narratives put out. OKC is a small market team that gets no media coverage. Most people have never watched them play. It all started with the Joker and Luka fans because Shai dared to challenge them. It's a hive mind mentality. That's why they cheer for Ant because realistically there is no argument for him being better than Joker or Luka. That's why Embiid was attacked. People can call OKC corny or whatever and they may be that to some, but douche's no. No screaming at the refs just back to playing ball. No scandals, no big personalities. They're about as close to regular people as you can get.

Narratively, SGA became problematic in 3 major categories:

-Racial: how dare he be as good or better than Luka and Jokic (indirect source of white pride; them "taking back" the sport)

-"Culture": how dare he be better than Ja, Ant, Tatum, etc (direct source of black pride, being the "face" of the sport)

-Stannism: how dare he have the stats and roster to go on a Mahomes run that'd place him on par with prime KD, Steph, Kobe

OKC winning the title next week would be a point of no-return for a lot of that.
