Old heads, was '98 DMX as big as '05 Jeezy, '15 Future, or '03 50 Cent?

To answer your question, He had TWO #1 albums in the same year, a movie, and about 10 guest appearances in an era that you weren't emailing your verses. This was the 2 inch tape era. That dude was everywhere in 1998. Can't compare the new eras to the 2 inch tape era. I'm still confused to how he was able to record all of those songs, star in a movie, shoot videos, and still be on crack.
Let me add something.... He was doing a lot of guest appearances, released 2 albums, shot videos, starred in a movie, AND completed a major tour while along with the drug use :russ: . A movie about X's life just focusing on the year of 1998 would be amazing

DMX put out two multi platinum albums in the same year. Yes he was that big. Only one you mentioned who had a bigger run than him was 50.

The only reason it didn't go multi platinum in the same year was because Flesh Of My Flesh Blood of My Blood was released in December. Either way both albums sold around 5 million each. Two #1 platinum albums in the same year is still something that I don't believe has been achieved again by a rapper.

50 had the biggest year. But DMX 98 was more impressive. Why? Cuz he was against Jay Z and the push he had. After pac and big, ny machine was trying capitilize and putting a face on the genre. Jay was the guy. But X was so different from the usual ny rappers. He had the aggressive tone of southern rappers, bravado of the streets and looked like he could fit in any hood. Dmx appealed to common urban demo

Dmx in 1998 didnt have to deal with illegal downloads

1998 vs 2005 was a different ballgame

Btw dmx sold under 3 million in 98 both those albums

Bruh sales are sales. Jeezy album sold very well. Doesn't change the fact that X sold more albums... A LOT more.

Both albums went platinum in less than a month of release.
