This would only be a stupid move if they actually had talent in the frontcourt - but they don't. This is the best option to take.

Didn't they specifically say their off-season goal was to go small? So it's not like by random happenstance that they had a shytty collection of bigs.

I have a feeling that Paul George isn't going to be in Indiana much longer.

He should have been talking to melo and bron how much fun it was playing the four against nikkas like zbo and what not when on defense

Hes gonna average more points simply bejng faster and crsfty for the slow foored fours he stretches to the perimeter but hes dead meat on the boards and in the post

I was originally against it, but then I remembered they lost David West and Hibbert, leaving them with scrub bigs. They will probably be better off rolling the dice and going small.

My main issue with it is that I really don't want to see PG guarding legit 4's. Then again, how many of those exist? Also, shouldn't this be great for his offense since it should be less draining for him to keep up with the slower bigs?

Myself
If he plays the 4 on O and 3 on D, I can see it working.
It's really a matter of who he's playing next to.
I don't see them doing this all season;
Only for specific match ups

If they were a championship caliber team or a contender then I could understand such a move.
They need to be a contender (in your opinion) in order for you to understand this move? Why can't they just be a regular ass team opting to take a new approach [following a trend] on offense - making the most out of what they have?
But the team is gonna suck regardless, so they are taking these risks (he is coming off injury as well) for what exactly? To be lower in the lottery? To maybe luck up and sneak in the playoffs to get demolished by Cleveland?
Well, they didn't go out and sign Monta just to 'tank'. I mentioned a few weeks ago on what I thought on the makeup of their squad -
cKBNkdp.png

One of the worst starting frontcourts in the league, with bottom of the barrell depth
Options #1/#2 effectiveness and efficiency are reliant upon having the ball in their hands
Lack of 3-pt shooting - biggest starting threat is their PG who falls around the medium of the league
One catch-and-shoot player in the starting lineup who's middle of the road offensively
Lack of size in the backcourt/wings - small ball (PG at the 4) pushes this out further
No proper defensive anchor

The glaring surface issues aside - this team has opted for a complete change in identity - not only personnel changes but also a deviation from the slow-paced, defense-orientated style they've had for the last half a decade. This team is an unknown quantity, who'll have to go through the trial and error of seeing how a new system works. Success doesn't usually come in the first season to teams who drastically switch shyt up like this, it's gonna take time and likely more changes before we see this team competing for a top 4 seed.

So you can see it working with CJ Miles guarding 4s instead? :dahell:

I didn't know opting to go small meant you purposefully didn't add proper talent to your frontcourt. :mjpls:
