The POINT is that 1080p is no longer "the thing." It is becoming dated.


That's if you have a sucky gaming rig that can't do 1440p. Like I said 1080p is becoming dated to PC gamers. Or at least the ones who game on high end rigs. And like someone said 1080p TVs is slowly being phased out.Hell, I see many very cheap.

When something becomes the norm/average that means it slowly becoming obsolete i.e 1080p.

So 1080p is dated and becoming obsolete because PC Gamers can run games in 1440p.

I guess you did not read the part where I said other posters are saying that 1080p televisions are slowly being phased out? Its only console gaming where 1080p is a thing and thats due to weak hardware of the consoles this gen.

I won't be upgrading to 4K for at least another 4 years.

Would like to see the 4K infrastructure (content and delivery systems) mature before jumping in. Hell, we don't even have 1080p cable content yet.

4K ain't taking off for a while outside of gaming and hardcore viewers of TV.

We STILL don't have TV networks broadcasting in 1080p native yet and it's 2016

By the end of 2017 when this drops are 4K TVs really going to be in most people's homes like that? Is the jump to 4K as big as SD to HD? Both companies are pushing for this resolution, and I'm all about the best quality picture, but I really don't think it's that big of a deal, or some huge selling point at this point in time.

Games running at 60fps and at 1080p are far more intriguing to me.

Gaming has moved these things. Xbox made HDTV more popular. PS3 HELPED USHER IN bluray, Scorpio will do the same for 4k. If there is content, they will come.
