He's simply not a good enough prospect to let learn on the fly, while there are better, more talented options ahead of him. Period. I hope he carves out a spot in the rotation, I'd rather see him play. Hell, I hope they're able to unload JR for something useful, and that opens up time for him... but Early isn't going to play right away... and the reasons are fairly obvious.

Jason Smith looked useful tonight. That was great. Hopefully between Joakim Cola, Dalemburrrrr and Jason Smith we can put together a useful big man rotation.

i was thinking that his defense and rebounding are some of the worst on the team :beli:

They are... but a player with some touch around the basket, who knows where to be on offense, can be useful despite that. Or to balance that.

i dont disagree. i think he can get some mins if dalembert, stat, or bargs get hurt. he can even take acy's mins cause that dude is terrible.

but smith has to improve his defense and rebounding. you cant be 7 foot, 250 pounds not grab boards AND be a defensive liability. philly was taking him to the rack all night, and the worst part is the effort isn't even there. he ain't fouling or nothing he just letting dudes get buckets.

I agree with everything you said except the jr bit . ( unless we were getting another scorer) I don't want the team to revert back to all ISO cause they can't score and lose faith in the system , we need jr until shump/ Timmy someone shows they can bring to the table what jr potentially brings

I'm really hoping we get Marc Gasol next year.

A guy like him is integral to any prolonged success we are expecting. I'm just wondering who is going to show up this year to show that they can be reliable for 2016 & beyond...

As of right now.... JR :camby:He has so much talent, but when we do become a contender, I'm not trying to have him on the court in crunch time when we need to make smart decisions...

Stat :camby:I predict he'll do good enough to garner favor from other teams. They will offer salary that Phil, intelligently, will not match.

Bargnani :ld: I don't know... I actually see him having a much more efficient & diminished role if we bring him back. I think we can make it work. I think :whoa:

Timmy :sadcam:The young breh needs to learn to pass. He is amazing in transition & I like his confidence, but breh...you're not Melo...Melo is Melo. I'm sure Phil really likes him, but if he doesn't start elevating his assist game I could see Phil packaging him w/ other pieces after this year(Or even midseason) to get us something nice. I want him to stay, but breh...

We shall see...

Swish has been having back spasms (video interview):

Yea, he left early during yesterday's game.

Like others were saying, it'd be cool to see Early get a little more time. He looks real shy/timid out there. Throw him in the fire. With respect to the argument that Fish is trying to get the veterans & main rotation players used tot he triangle, it seems Early was a big part of the Summer league triangle success, if he works well with the main unit, let that boy cook.

Yeah, he's by far the second most gifted player on the roster. And I'm hoping that there's some sort of Phil-ian/Zentastic Mind Meld... but I'm a realist, and I don't see him reinventing himself in order to play/fit the system.

Teams have been talking about 'What JR potentially brings' for his entire career. And so far, there has been one outlier season where he reined it in a little... not even completely, not even a total makeover, just less wild and uncontrolled, where you can't count on him.

And last season he relapsed. I don't see him in their future plans... but if they get him in line, I'd be all for it.

I remember when they gave the 3 points NY scored to the Celtics, but then changed it, but did anyone else notice that when 'Melo made one of his buckets last night, the score never changed?

He would instantly change the dynamic of the team. His ability to score around the basket, space, and pass out of the high and low posts.... plus that defense?
