So...I understand the "slow ball" if we get certain veterans...
But I though it was a general consensus that the lack of veterans & mentorship is what was the biggest contributor to the Knicks woes?
I mean, it's one or the other.
David West may be slow but the Garnett's of the league who don't take shyt & who represent the glue of the locker room is sorely needed on this team.
At PG
At PG, I'm willing to go forward w/ Galloway & Grant at this point. It sucks that we don't have any serious floor generals but, maybe someone can inform if I'm wrong, but there should be FA PG next year we can target.
Jerian Grant/ Langston "Hughes" Galloway
At SG
At SG, at this point, Aaron Afflalo for 12 Mill... I'm just not confident in that right now. With the PG situation & Melo needing a consistent & efficient shooter, I'm with the school of thought that believes we should really have Phil Jackson parachute from a Blimp, that reads "The World Is Yours" & hand
Danny Green a NY Knicks brochure. Also,
Alex Shved...it'll eat into our Cap but...we need a bench. I liked the small sample he gave to the squad.
Danny Green/ Alex Shved
At SF
At SF, Melo. We can decide later what we should do to improve our bench from free agency. I do realize that relying on
Cleanthony Early(disappointing season)
& Thanasis Antetokounmpo as our bench is weak & scary. If after all FA moves, we can pick up a reliable veteran SF who can give 20 MPG & help hone our young guys...that would be a plus.
Carmelo Anthony / [Veteran Minimun SF who can give 20 MPG] /Cleanthony Early / Thansis Antetokounmpo
AT PF
At PF, it looks like David West is almost a certainty. At the right salary, he may be able to provide that toughness & limited efficiency that makes this season a little more bearable. Bringing mentor-ship, grit, locker room glue & veteran skillset to the Knicks, he will be an asset. Although he will not be contributing to any fast pace I'd still consider him a plus on this team. Kristap Porzingis is here. At this point, we need to hope that bust or star, the Knicks do everything they can to find out his true potential. Why isn't this hip injury being talked about? I'm hoping that means it isn't serious, especially considering how, if their is any Knick blood in the water, the Media circles and attacks like sharks.
David West / Kristap Porzingis
AT Center
At Center, Melo needs a second option. Someone who night in & night out, can be relied upon to make buckets going into the 4th quarter. Even if that person is one dimensional...he needs to be able to score. With that being said, Greg Monroe doesn't seem like a bad option. Especially considering the top free agents of this class aren't even sniffing our way...as a matter of fact, I'm not even going to mention their names... Monroe is 25 & can possibly be a little better than what he was in Detroit. I'm willing to take him on & give Melo a little bit relief going into this next year. You know, I really can't believe I'm saying this but I'd wish Chandler would come back... WAIT...Nah. But what I'm getting at is, having a rim protector would be ideal, even if that were his limitation. We need someone who, in a close game, Monroe good switch to the 4 & we could have a center put in who makes the opposition offense hesitate to come into the paint. With that being said, the strides
Al-Farouq Aminu has been making in Dallas shows promise, especially when taking into consideration his playoff performance. It's times like when you cringe at the thought that for a player - Melo - who was going to to come to NY in the offseason anyway, we traded & gutted an entire team, including Mozgov, to get him. If salary cap allows, Cole Aldrich should be brought back also.
Greg Monroe / Al-Farouq Aminu / Cole Aldrich
I'm too afraid to organize that roster & post what it actually looks like. From this view it looks someone efficient.
By the way,
