He didn't have Scott Brooks type talent that he mismanaged imo. He just didn't have the horses to get over the hump. And in regards to Miami I do believe that was his 1st pro coaching gig, so it may have even have been how you said it was and he learned from it. My thing with the not good enough to get you over the hump comment is that its what folks say that about any coach that hasn't won a championship yet. That was Rick Carlisle's, and ironically Larry Brown's label too. You give a coach enough time and a good enough team/player and they can get you there. And let's be honest, as Pistons fans these days we'd be happy to get anywhere near the damn hump anyway.I was under the impression he wore out his welcome in Miami. Seems like Riles would have done the same with Spo if he was just looking to hijack (didn't Miami get their act together because they didnt want to go through those Riley practices again), had to have been more to it. I remember mad cats on sohh saying Stan was good enough to build a club with but not that guy to win a ship. Stan used to get shade all of the time from what i remember. Those Orlando squads were built to win they just couldn't make wide open shots against the Lakers after being consistent all playoffs
. They had a better team than the Cavs too.
I don't have anything against Stan though and think its a good hire from a coaching standpoint, just seems like he's been overrated a tad bit lately. I'll give him his elite props if he can turn the coal we have here into a diamond.
good for Stan, 35 million guaranteed with no pressure. Maybe Lebatard can get ESPN to pay Bomani to be on the radio show for 2 days a week...He didn't have Scott Brooks type talent that he mismanaged imo. I'm not questioning SVG's coaching ability at all. My concern is if he has the ability to assemble a contending team. I think this is a good opportunity for him since he has a young big ala Howard to build around defensively and mold.
I agree. That Warriors job is a no win situation. You're following a coach that had 2 great season and the players loved him.
Its also in the Western Conference.
GSW have to get a proven coach.I'm happy for SVG, the Bay is in the building. Good to see a fellow Bay nikka eating. He'll get the Pistons outta the gutter.
They didn't start saying Smith's name until the ship started sinking. When everything was good, the man got no credit. So who was responsible for putting together and maintaining those winning teams in Orlando if not Smith?
*awaits a cac to be given all the credit and called the gawd"
Thats how it works. You notice how this thread is all about riding SVG dikk and calling him a gawd, while shytting on Otis Smith and Joe Dumars. Nevermind Otis had success in Orlando, that shyt don't matter. Nevermind the W's and L's, he should be known for all the mistakes he made. The bottom line doesn't matter on here when it comes to brothers. It is what it is though. They didn't start saying Smith's name until the ship started sinking. When everything was good, the man got no credit.

please look at Otis Smith's fukkery from 2006 onward before you start saying he was some kind of wizardSo who was responsible for putting together and maintaining those winning teams in Orlando if not Smith?
