Pierce wasn't on a 50 win team until KG and Allen came to town, and the East was fukking horrible during his prime, back when the Nets & Pistons could lead the conference with 50 wins.

Pierce wasn't an overwhelming talent, but neither is Melo. Pierce was always surrounded by D-league talent. The one year he any sort of help the Celtics won 49 games.
Melo this year has been an overwhelming talent, the East is better now than it was during Pierce's prime.
And at certain points this year the Knicks have had D-league talent all over the floor.

I swear you nikka's suffer fro revisionistism(yea I made that up) Pierce played in a WEAK eastern conference in those years prior to the big 3 arriving. Couldn't consistently keep his team above 500 yet y'all are in here chastising Melo for getting beat out of the playoffs by teams that went to the finals? Only bad playoff loss for Melo IMO was against the Clippers. I'd take Melo over Pierce and it doesn't even require a second though.
