i agree that rakim has a better catalog but that has nothing to do with having a more successful career.

and you say bdk was ghost after '98, but so was rakim.
:what:

Rakim had some memorable guest verses after 98, signed to Aftermath (even though it didn't work out) and dropped a very dope album a couple years ago.

Outside of guest verses on a Big L & Joell Ortiz track & that 28 Bars that just dropped a couple days ago, BDK has done absolutely nothing.

Yea, I don't see how anyone in their right mind can think BDK had a better career than Ra. shyt is just silly.

dog, thats not a career. youre talking rippity-rap chit. by that logic, i guess kool g. rap had a better career than both of them.

and those rakim guest verses are only memorable to rakim fans, which renders those verses to being categorized in the same category:laugh: as BDK's guest spots.

i didnt even know rakim dropped an album a couple years ago. thats quite a career he still has going for himself. meanwhile, kane is still getting show money, still getting rave reviews for his shows & appearing in movies/television.

no you sound silly.

saying that rakim had a better career than kane is like saying that nas had a better career than jay-z........which, in a way, goes in line with what theyre saying in that rakim interview posted at the top of the previous page.

sure, you can say that rakim had a better body of work. i'll agree all day. but a better career? nah.

Nah, I don't agree. Big Daddy Kane was good but Rakim was better. And the songs from these albums say otherwise too:

And then after taking a break for a few years, Rakim even made a nice comeback with The 18th Letter:

rakim had a better career than bdk.
Bdk ruined his own draw.
Bdk did not have administrative issues.
That kept him from working.
Bdk for a whole decade ruined his entire career from faking the worst jax in the history of a highly skilled emcee in the history of rap.
Also,...
Ra transistioned from production era to production era seamlessly.
By being the technical emcee rubrick.
Whereas, bdk fell All the way off technical skillwise.
After number one with a bullet with g rap on live and let die.
then never really recovered after a valiant last ditch effort on here to save.
Which included his own last hurrah skillwise from his comeback on the juice sdtrk.
Whereas ra has one of the most definitive sdtrk records and flagship first single for the same movie.
When previously, fivd years predating that.
Bdk used to draw in the same vein, at the apex of his skill on lean on me.
Ra never fell off, after know the ledge.
That nikka bdk, was on a slippery slope to the depths of wackster hell right after the credits in lean on me faded to black.

you need to stop faking jax.
Like you know runny,...
As it is obvious to anyone who really is a bboy.
You fronting and just an rnb ass nikka.
With a small interest in rap.
Which is evident by your wack misaligned non-culturally accurrate rankings in your top ten.
When realistically after five and an honorable mention of caz at six.
There is no need to rank past the top five.
As every possible skillset that could be or will be created is already done.
To the apex of skill in the top five.
Whereas the rest after,...are an extension of the top five and caz.

Top five:

1. Krs

2. Ra

3. LL & bdk

4. Melle Mel

5. G rap

honorable mention at six, to be fair : caz

this is why BDK could never really eclipse Rakim, it was painful to watch BDK in the 90's, always respected his skill set just didnt feel the direction he took.

Also,...
nikka, is forgetting.
Bdk only got to re-draw after his vh1 performance on the honor's.
If not for that one show,...
Bdk would have never drawn another day in the rap game.
Real talk,...
That show allowed him to not even apologize for his bs.
He just got a pass cause the game was on so much bullshyt.
That it allowed him a grace period to become relevant.
Of which he jagged't.
As he never even consistently put together any new Gen produced records.
Nor, did he try to compile an album.
While, even grand daddy iu had an incredible album.
Which was a great hustler slash crack dealer retrospective record.
shyt,...even percee p, dropped an album and if I remember right.
I think he got some ea videogame money, too.

So real talk,....
Bdk never apologized to the culture.
He just take an opportunity, to re-draw.
When, if he would have publically be real and owned up like even LL.
shyt even kr admitted puff duped him.
Bdk, never did anything other than hip hop honors.
Which if he did give tye culture his apology and direction.
He could have done more than The little he did.
In the man the icon twelve inch and after era

on the real,....

Kane selling out.
Is one of the biggest blows to hip hop as a culture.
Plus to the actual perception and global masculinity of black men for an entire era.
For Kane to sell out the way he did.
Set back the actual black male for that era.
As it ruined the ideas and principles of what the visage of a black male was about in full scope for that era.

ROXANNE SHANTÉ : bdk was the embodiment of the image of the black man for an entire generation

Which are true words.
So, when he sold out.
It gave a crippling blow to not only hip hop as a culture.
It also crippled the legacy of the black man as a whole as well.

Bdk selling out is one of the greatest crimes of our time.

So, what exactly caused BDK to fall out of favor with the "boombox on the shoulder" crowd?

if he got the right producers, Kane could make an 18th Letter type comeback album right now. the flow & everything is still there

i refuse to conform
Simple. Just look at his longevity album catalogue.

Rakim has 3 classic albums, and 4 really dope albums all spanning over 20 years.

Big Daddy Kane had 2 classics in a span of 2 years, then every other album afterwards was trash, plus he was ghost after 98.

rakim did have a better career then kane as far as the music goes he dropped 4 classics with eric b then dropped a classics solo album in the 18th letter

Just when things seemed the same and the whole scene is lame
I come and reign with the unexplained, for the brains 'til things change
They strain to sling slang, I'm trained to bring game
History that I arranged, been regained by King James

Go to practice with tactics, when the track hits, the-atrics
Women that look like actress, the status of Cleopatra's
Stacks of mathematics to feed your A G a geatics
As I find out, what the facts is, for geographic

ra was rhyming was incredible on the 18th letter
