So, what exactly caused BDK to fall out of favor with the "boombox on the shoulder" crowd?

:laff:
:laff:

rakim had a better career than bdk.
Bdk ruined his own draw.
Bdk did not have administrative issues.
That kept him from working.
Bdk for a whole decade ruined his entire career from faking the worst jax in the history of a highly skilled emcee in the history of rap.
Also,...
Ra transistioned from production era to production era seamlessly.
By being the technical emcee rubrick.
Whereas, bdk fell All the way off technical skillwise.
After number one with a bullet with g rap on live and let die.
then never really recovered after a valiant last ditch effort on here to save.
Which included his own last hurrah skillwise from his comeback on the juice sdtrk.
Whereas ra has one of the most definitive sdtrk records and flagship first single for the same movie.
When previously, fivd years predating that.
Bdk used to draw in the same vein, at the apex of his skill on lean on me.
Ra never fell off, after know the ledge.
That nikka bdk, was on a slippery slope to the depths of wackster hell right after the credits in lean on me faded to black.

you need to stop faking jax.
Like you know runny,...
As it is obvious to anyone who really is a bboy.
You fronting and just an rnb ass nikka.
With a small interest in rap.
Which is evident by your wack misaligned non-culturally accurrate rankings in your top ten.
When realistically after five and an honorable mention of caz at six.
There is no need to rank past the top five.
As every possible skillset that could be or will be created is already done.
To the apex of skill in the top five.
Whereas the rest after,...are an extension of the top five and caz.

Top five:

1. Krs

2. Ra

3. LL & bdk

4. Melle Mel

5. G rap

honorable mention at six, to be fair : caz

no jack@$$.

dudes in here ranking late '80s/early '90s east coast rappers, and here you come talking about grandmaster caz & melle mel. youre so desperate to get a taste of my top, that youre running into walls.

also, just because you cant count past six, doesnt mean that others have to limit themselve.

and yes, kane had a better CAREER than rakim. im not saying that he should be higher on all-time lists.

WAIT FOR IT.........

LUDACRIS & JARULE HAD BETTER CAREERS THAN RAKIM TOO.

So, what exactly caused BDK to fall out of favor with the "boombox on the shoulder" crowd?

alright,...
From the jump,...
nikkas forget, that bdk was on some bullshyt from off top.
Which nikkas ignored,...
Yet for the time, on lltk.
The day your mine was singlehandidly the absolute worst girl record in rap history for the new schoolway of thought.
After the force md's ol school fiasco.
Made it so all that bullshyt bytch'n and bargaining to a female.
For a new school way of thought artist was never to be allowed.
I mean seriously,...
If not for LL.
An old schoolway of thought artist later dropping one shot at love.
The day you are mine off hook alone killed many a pair of double a batteries.
To fast forward past that bullshyt.
Now, in revision nikkas can go back.
Then, be like the day your mine is a pioneering record in the new school way of thought.
Yet, that is revision.
For, bdk someone who was pretty much looked at as.
The second coming of Christ with ain't no predted by raw.
BDk, never really had to make a girl record in the new school way of thought.
LL could get away with it,...
As he was pretty much the last ol school way of thought artist.
For bdk in the new school way of thought,..
It was looked at but noted and we held him accountable.
Now, on the next record after lean on me and wrath of Kane killed the radio airwaves as promos. before they were released as singles.
It was just obvious, Kane did not have to appeal to rnb sentiments and sucker bullshyt.
He just had to be raw and that was it, period.
As all the spoils would have came to him eventually if he kept it cultural.
did he do that,..
We wish,....
He dropped the classic single and via for the smooth tip and was ready for history.
Then followed it up with the kiss of death at the time for a rapper.
A record with teddy riley,..
Which, mortally hurt his draw.
That instead of actually coming back and re-surveying skills.
Dis nikka Kane, goes further off the deep end.
Then, gives us the awful taste of chocolate.
Which also,...was like a combo of death after the Quincy Jones record.
The Quincy Jones record was cool.
As, it was a pioneering feature for him.
Where he was accurately used in the rnb medium, finally.
Yet it was to little to late.
Which lead to a spread in PLAYGIRL!
the nikka was done after that.
As taste of chocolate did not have a raw, or set it off moment.
So now, Kane had half stepped into duke is fully trippin mode.
plus there was nuffin on prince of darkness, whatsoever

By the time he snapped on g rap's number one with a bullet.
Trying, to re-right himself skillwise on looks like a job for.
His time and the actual patience of the consumer and culture were fed up.
After that, and his valiant effort on looks like a job for.
He never was able to re-acquire the skill level.
or the new more aggressive gateway gangsta rap content consumer's attention.
Yard later, he was tolerable on veteran's day.
Yet, it was still nowhere near what his skill should have been.
Plus, vd was released in an era.
Where, he should have swagged all over anyone.
Yet, his attention to his skill was lacking and he jagged't.
It was not until mackula.
Did he finally make a high in between classic record.
Which was so far inbetween his last active and skilled period.
it still created a fever because it was finally the type of shyt you wanted to hear from Kane.
It would not be till the man, the icon era of twleve inch one shot work and later.
Did he show an attention to detail skillwise.

Which for Kane is inexcusable.

So basically, he turned into an R&B rapper when he didn't have to, then posed for Playgirl :scusthov:

then tried to come back and be a straight-up spitter, but it was too late?

It went evn beyond R&B rapper. He was doing duets with Barry White & Patti Labelle where he crooned. It was the most absurd, horrific shyt ever. I remember distinctly the struggle faces on my school bus when we popped the tape in that day. Literally th only hot shyt off tat tape was the intro & outro that sampled Ricky bells vocal run that closes poison over the 'big momma thang' beat.

And the next album was even worse. I didn't even bother buying that one nor cared to hear it.

First off go take yo goof lame ass!
to the ladies room with your gay homo-**** like fascinations of me.
Then take your unsung posting career and beg for a unsung special on h-town.

not to mention,...
You such a goodie.
Your limited rnb theme knowledge takes precedence over anytime you discuss some shyt.
As you do not even know what new or old school way of thought is.
When you listed LL.
Who is an old school way of thought artist, stoopid.
So stfu, cause you never know what the fukk you are talking about.
Go unbutton your gay chiffons rayon based ass shirt, and go sweat somewhere.
You goofie lame ass, boi!

also,...till you authenticate anyone and the history of their career.
You will not ever be able to talk about who had a better career.
As this is rap and is culturally based.
Of which luda and ja are not on ra's wavelength.
Nor, will they ever be spoken of careerwise.
In the same affinity as rakim, stoopid.
Anybody could have sold out like those two biter ripoff's like kids and ja did.
Which at the end of the day is why they no longer draw in the vein in which payola'd their way to.
Not to mention, when it is all said and done.
Nobody, with any cultural relevant sense.
will usher them historically into any conversation where rakim is being discussed.
Only you, stoopid enough.
To bring up two sales spike phoney artist, against rakim.
When real talk,....
Even in the sale spike era.
Rakim went platinum before both of them.
Even, if both bite some more to close out there career.
neither of them will have ever approached.
one rhyme pattern surrounding Saturn on the eighteenth letter.

So shut your little soiled toddler's potty training pot mouth up, b!

I think that this song right here is Kane's highlight of the mid-late 90's before he was honored by vh1.

i refuse to conform
Makin sure that you're no longer adorable
Rappers get so quiet when I'm comin, that if they
shytted a dictionary, you couldn't get a word from em
It's sort of a tradition in Bed-Stuy to do or die
So steppin to me is suicide

big daddy kane had sick rhyme schemes in the 90's also

You focus too much on rhyme and structure but not enough on what's actually being said. Tallying bars and internal rhymes like points shouldn't be the only meter used to judge skill level. (not dissing kane btw)

lol i focus on the actual the skillset of a lyricist like complex rhyme patterns metaphors wordplay punchlines hooks flow etc

content is the last thing for me i could give a fukk about what u actually talking about as long as it dope in terms of the rhyme scheme and the other aspects of writing rap lyrics.

:smh: ra has one of the most diverse catalogs of any rapper. From I Ain't No Joke to Magogany to In the Ghetto to Know the Ledge to Casualties of War.

Besides Biggie, Ra may be one of the most versatile to ever do it.

you can tell who actually listens to music then just bias and opinions

:salute:
