By my count, he played two good defenses, and two elite defenses. His protection is a problem, and not just from the left side as the broadcast kept mentioning, the Hawks were jailbreaking thru the right side, too. They absolutely have to strengthen his line.

Worth adding some context here: the Pats were sliding protection and extra help to the left side of the OL, and the Seahawks clearly keyed in on that. With TEs and RBs chipping left, Seattle schemed up ways to exploit the weak points elsewhere and made them pay.

It's not the one game I'm grading him on, it's the totality of the playoff run. Statistically he played 4 Top 9 defenses, but we also have eyes and are able to contextualize what we saw.

That Chargers defense (#9) was nothing special. They had moments throughout the year and were "good", but that wasn't a special defense.

The Texans (#2) were the best defense in the NFL this year. I'm not indicting him for his performance against a truly elite defense, but he loses that game with any team that can match that defense with competent offense. The Texans have minimal weapons, a mid line, a worse run game, and a bottom tier starter at QB. As it always does, eventually the dam broke, and credit to the Pats on that, but a legit offense ends the Patriots season in Rd2. So my point being, he was not good enough this postseason and it was evident from that game on.

The Broncos (#3) compiled most of their heavyweight stats in the first half of the year, they were not the same defense by the end. They were still good, and even with Josh Allen turning it over 5x, they were in position to lose that game at the end. If you remember 1st half of Pats/Broncos, the Pats had like 22 yards of offense deep into the 2nd quarter. And it's not because the Broncos defense was special.

The Hawks (#1) were a formidable defense for him but he missed layups all night until the 4thQ. Note, I'm not saying he should shoulder the blame, McDaniels should know well enough how to scheme against a zone heavy, blitz heavy defense. Maye is out there though, some of the throws he missed were average NFL throws.

But ultimately, my beef is with the coronation he was given thru NFL Media partners the past two months. I thought it was clear as day he's made a leap, from his rookie year, but I also thought people shoulda relaxed on the "he's one of the elite guys" shyt. That's my central point, its okay that he's not one of the elite guys yet, but every year mf's so quick to crown these guys....he may become one of those guys. He isnt one of them yet.

He just got exposed. He is a good quarterback, but he is no where close to Matthew Stafford and anyone that voted for Maye as MVP should have their voting privileges revoked.

With that said Maye is a good young quarterback, but he is a product of playing against a garbage schedule in a garbage conference. If the top quarterbacks and offensive lines in in the AFC would have been healthy this year then Drake Maye and the Patriots would have been eliminated on wild card weekend.

Burrow missed half of the season 2 of the last 3 years. He already took his team to a Super Bowl and always had been surrounded by a worse supporting cast.

2 playoff appearances in 6 years when you're expected to do more with less at your salary ain't it. Dude can't live off that SB appearance forever.

He’s 5-2 in the playoffs and has played a lot better than Lamar when it matters with the worst O line to ever make the Super Bowl. You put Burrow on the Ravens and they would’ve had a championship.

He holds the ball too long. His o-line is not that bad. Ravens do not have Jamar Chase and Tee Higgins. Lamar has proven that he can do more with less. Have yet to see that with Burrow. And he's injury prone.

The Ravens GM would drive Lamar to the airport if Cinci called them for a Burrow-Lamar trade.

A dude already more injury prone than Lamar with the Ravens receiving core? Nah fam. Burrow better do something this year. Him being goofy about getting Higgins paid with the holes they have on that team is stupid. Another year of missing the playoffs as a supposed top 4 QB (Stafford took his spot this year IMO) and he needs to be getting fried.

People forget Patrick Mahomes 1st superbowl, He was running for his life. Put up 9 points 0TD 2 INTs (With Kelce/ Tyreek hill). It happens, Its on Drake Maye to learn from this and get better. Patriots Need to give him some weapons as well.

The thing that is wild is that people have given Caleb Williams shyt all year for only completing 58% of his passes. Those same people bragged about Maye having a 72% completion percentage while running up stats on the dregs of the league

Fast forward to the playoffs where Maye completed 70 of 120 passes, which is 58%. No one is saying shyt about that. Maye was also sacked 21 times, threw 4 picks and had 8 fumbles with 5 lost.

Did drake maye have a bad post season? Yes

Did Drake Maye have an amazing regular season? Yes

Both things can be simultaneously true.

The post season doesn't equal the regular season and people should be smart enough to know that. Drake Maye finished runner up for MVP and was a 2nd team all pro because he was great during the regular season.

The only QBs better than Drake Maye rn are Mahomes, Lamar, Josh Allen, Stafford and maybe Joe Burrow and I said maybe Joe Burrow because he hasn't done shyt for the past few post seasons.
