Part of why his numbers go down is that more and more teams are sending hard doubles his way, hell they was doing that more before Klay went down. And even as Steph's scoring dropped his assists have gone up. He's making the smart basketball play. And watching Warriors game while they are talented as hell the amount of attention the defense plays to the threat of Steph shooting is what makes the offense so lethal. Same effect Korver has for the Hawks except worse since Steph is as dangerous of a threat with the ball in his hands.

This is a perfect breakdown.

Steph's scoring has slowed but his playmaking has still willed his team to victories, he isn't going to force the issue because he's not a selfish player

Here's the thing though: a lot of times in the last 25 years or so when the trophy went to someone on one of the two/three best teams in the league, the player on that squad also happened to be the best player in the league. This is true of Jordan and LeBron at least, so that's already like a third of the time. That's why it's misleading to say that historically it goes to the best player on the best team. Historically, a lot of the times it has gone to the best player in the league regardless of storyline. The truth is that a player that's not the actual best player getting it is more exception than rule. There's no good reason to make the 'storyline and best team record' the preferred criteria when the name clearly states most valuable player.
Steph deserves it for a few reasons. His teams record being at the top of the list. Also he's become the second most popular player in the league. He's been efficient on both ends of the floor and his team is better when he's on the floor. Who is your MVP this season?

dont think it will go tho
what duncan said hit hard home to the team

said stop the ISO shyt and move the ball around were at our best this way and he knows it
when we dont do that we dont play well

only time ball shouldn't move around as much if a teammate is on fire

it was a lil joke on the hawks being spurs-east.....they tie in triple Ot and the spurs win...get it?

Mine is Harden. The reasons you mentioned are exactly the reasons why Curry is probably favorite right now and will likely end up winning it. But that just makes the MVP a popularity+team record affair. I think the concept of MVP wasn't invented in that spirit. Also, I believe the question of trying to figure out who added the most value to his team and coming up with ever better methods of determining that is part of the charm of the concept. People who feel that that becomes too analytic or requires too much effort tend to go with the storyline approach. But imo excellence is what makes sports so interesting and the MVP trophy is the quest for figuring out and rewarding individual excellence in a team sport. The rings are the trophies for collective excellence and the MVP should be reserved for individual excellence, not be another added bonus for someone from the most excellent team. Just my two cents.

Basketball Gods smiling on #heatwave

Brooklyn putting foot to ass on Indy.

Hopefully they don't turn on us with a week to go in the season :sadcam:
We might get another Bulls / Heat series just yet

I really don't wanna see Whiteside & Wade in the playoffs tho, would prefer Milwaukee/Charlotte/Indy

Suns are all over Harden this quarter. Forced him into two turnovers, a jump ball and a blocked shot where they caught it in the air while also having Harden's man have successful leak outs on two other occasions.
