It's a hit piece to use actual stats to try and settle the debate on just how good or bad on defense he is on defense? I mean how dare he use actual data and put it in context instead of just throwing out some advanced stats that nobody actually knows what the measure instead of using data that breaks plays down on a play by play basis.
The problem is, it's NOT putting it in the right context because the Nuggets have a number of defensive weaklinks, particularly on the perimeter which allow opposition teams to drive with little to no resistance into the paint. This is compounded by him being mindful of not getting into foul trouble by picking up unnecessary fouls, after all, he is their everything on offense. He doesn't have the luxury of having someone like Brook to anchor that area of the floor like Giannis does. We've all seen when Brook is out and Giannis has to defend the rim where it turns into a layup line.

This is what I've been trying to reiterate to your dumbass, as we've seen in the games where Jokic has sat out this season and when he comes off the floor.

Here's some actual data for you:

When Jokic plays/on the floor the Nuggets have a top-10 defensive rating
When Jokic doesn't play the Nuggets have a bottom-10 defensive rating.
Jokic has the #1 net-rating in the league
Jokic has led his team to the #1 seed in his conference
Jokic has led his team to more wins than every other MVP candidate.

So it begs the question, why is arguably the best performer in the league this season having something like this written about him? It dispels all this bullshyt that this board believe the media is doing in his favor, does it not? It seems there's this relatively recent phenomenon where folks are going out of their way to find shyt to knock him down to size.

I don't recall this happening to any other main MVP candidate in recent times.

I wouldn't say considerably better considering that his numbers are not much better than players like Luka and SGA who will more than likely make First Team and rightfully so.

It also should be noted that the's only played in 58 games this season, which can and should be used against him as well since his peers will have played in more games than him. So technically going by the new rules, he wouldn't All NBA team at all.

SGA has been outstanding but Dame has been a notch above him clearly and Luka isn’t a guard. And both those dudes might miss the playoffs as well. If they wanna use games played against him then so be it but he’s been the best guard in the league this year…

Luka has been playing guard all season long. Everybody in the league is putting up numbers, so team record is going to come into play as has been the case many times before.

He's still going to more than likely make 2nd team anyways, he's just not going to make First Team.

Giannis doesn’t, that’s the issue

There’s multiple stats that says he does, he lowers fg efficiency at the rim when he contests more basically any player in the league (and LITERALLY won a finals series doing just that)…and yet, that’s not his best use as a defender…you want him blowing up pick and rolls and being a offball buzz saw causing havoc and deterring players all over the court….it’s that versatility that allows him to share the front court with another true big defensively…. Him and Brook fit perfectly together, that’s not the issue at all…he was obtained for cheap and they have won a championship together…Brook and Jokic would be destroyed in comical fashion

what 7 rim protector do you suggest the nuggets go out and put next to Jokic?

any of them lol. even years ago they knew it was a massive problem - that's what made them go for aaron gordon. eventually, they're gonna have to focus on that even more as time goes on because its impossible to hide an exploitable center in the playoffs.

Nikka really tried to manifest Oubre to be gay :wtf:

pause at the door :dame: no road games in harlem

This Giannis stat was really impressive.

  • 226 players have defended ball handlers on at least 200 drives this season (that's almost half of the league), but among this massive group Jokic ranks 222nd in efficiency, allowing 1.16 points per chance. For context, one of Jokic's main competitors in the MVP race dominates this category. Giannis Antetokounmpo ranks first in this group, allowing 0.79 points per chance.

Who's making first team over him? Who's putting up better numbers than him?

Luka and SGA are putting up nearly identical numbers as Dame is with better team records. The latter is going to be used against him whether it's fair or not.

Numbers alone isn't going to get you First Team All NBA anymore especially when everyone in the league is putting up big numbers as well. It's the same reason why CP3 would make All NBA team over other guys who put up better raw numbers than he did.
