A lot of crazy talk from both sides

Grant Hill was a VERY GOOD player and was supposed to be the face of the league after MJ retired. He was labeled soft cause he aint really have that DOG in him

Dead @ Putting Him In KD & LeBron Company, More Like Rudy Gay/Paul George

He Got A Sneaker Deal And Rookie Of The Year, That Cemented His Holier Then Thou Status In That Time

Grant Could Have Been A Great Sidekick To A Top Tier Guy, I Dont Think He Could Of Been THAT Leader Though

lol @ putting him down with Rudy Gay/Paul George...thats a big insult breh.

Hill JUST entered his prime before he got hurt and averaged 25/6/5 on 49%...that sounds like KD and LeBron numbers to me.

he was the highest drawing next gen superstar baller player.
with the highest basketball iq for new players of the low bball iq era, easily.
on top of the highest execution level of any new player of that gen as well.
plus he had the top tier elite superstar pedigree marketing wise.
only rivaled and easily eclipsed by jordan.
after that, hill was better than pippen as well.
as hill never needed someone to ramp him up and immediately came into the league.
when healthy, hill did not regulate himself into being a schluper as pippen did.
on three occassions as pippen did in his career.
which is why hill was better than pippen, before injury.
also,....even coming back from injury hill was better than pip schlup'n it up as well.
hill squelched any naysayers and doubters.
quieting the duke turns pro curse.
that allowed future duke players to be given a higher upside as pro's.
plus created a template for duke to base their newer recruits on.
that made them better ballplayers who could translate to the pro level.

a lot of dudes are seriously showing they did not watch hill.
as hill, could be argued as the best backcourt player in the game after mike at the time.
plus, it was immediate and out of complete surprise.
considering the past knock on duke players as a pro.
no one had any idea how good hill was till he debuted and completely set the world on fire.

grant hill was going to be the next huge marketing machine in basketball history.
as he revamped and re-invigorated a defunct brand in fila.

also,...
to people saying he was a player who would have been a sidekick.
that is a lie.
grant hill was so good.
he made an acquired fa contracts for a sidekick, in allen houston.
who was exposed once, hill was kicking it out to him.
as houston, was sometimey and a schluper.
that was easily recognizeable.
once hill was not on the same team roster as him.

hill easily willed a piston squad with no talent.
by working up comparable talent into viable sidekicks on the roster.
plus easily carrying the pistons..
plus the marketing viability of the whole league and numerous mainstream brands outside of michael jordan.

which for the time was unprecedented, and a complete longshot from reality till grant hill came along.
stop fronting,....
grant hill is actually one of the best examples of black excellence of our gen.

it is a shame he got hurt.
as he was an incredible role model and template for black america, as well.

My Point Was Thats The Class Of Guys I THINK Grant Hill Would Have Been In Even If He Would Have Been Injury Free, I Dont Think He Would Have Been An MVP Candidate Year In And Year Out.

Im Probably Discrediting Him Cuz I Still Think He Would Have Been A Bonafide All Star Where Those Guys Are Boarderline All Stars But I Just Felt Like Their Styles Had Similarities.

The LeBron comparisons have probably been the best IMO. He just didnt get as hot on the court like LeBron does when his shot is on.

I just found this on YouTube...think about this:
"After the first six seasons of his career, before his ankle injury, Hill had a total of 9,393 points, 3,417 rebounds and 2,720 assists. Oscar Robertson, Larry Bird, and LeBron James are the only three players in league history to eclipse these numbers after their first six seasons."

He is way above Gay and George...that was straight disrespect :russ:

I was a kid when he was still in his prime. However, I remember it looked like the game was easy to him, he was able to score when he wanted, was athletic, could pass, and like dude above said, the only thing he didn't have was an outside shot.

that is a lie to say he did not have an outside shot.
he was argueably the best mid-range shooter in the league as a rookie.
he was money as a dribble drive and mid-range player and had the best basic execution handles and body control for the wing forward position.
also,...
his basketball iq was way higher than bron and kobe's easily, as well.

hill came into the league when the three point shot was not considered to be a common strength for forward.
plus he was one of the most successful prototypical wing forward players in the history of the nba as well.

hill was dominant till injury.
easily the best low basketball iq era player till injury.
plus it was immediately recognizeable and impact upon his debut as well.

argueably one of the best surprise draft pick choices in the history of the nba as well.

as he went from a darkhorse, to possible duke curse ballplayer.
to argueably the next best player in the league after michael jordan as a rookie.

He was elite tho...5 straight all-star appearances and looked to be getting into that 25/7/7 range which puts him up right there with the GODS of all time.

Biggest loss we ever witnessed in the NBA due to injury IMO. More than Penny, Roy and a couple of other cats.

easily the biggest loss to black america for young hopeful role models in the late nineties.
the movements he could have spearheaded if he did not get injured.
still hurt black america to this day.
