Except the someone that clown Eddie is talking about is 6’4” and played varsity HS which is more than most posters here probably did going by the level of basketball discussion here
I would bet quite a few of these nerds probably bounced a ball at least in high school and some in college on various levels. thats not the actual point. the point is they are not 7 footers(mostly), they are not 6'9+. They have no idea about that post world. NON. but they do have an idea about shooting jumpers because everyone can shoot a jumper and that is something that white guys are known for. why? because on average white guys are not nearly as athletic as others( i said on average). an athletic isnt just about jumping high. quickness. so they think what would level the playing field? hmmmm, lets maket he game so its all about guard play mostly, dribble shoot, catch shoot, dribble shoot, catch shoot.
every guy thats 5'6 to 6'4 can do this . no ultra athleticism necessary. just have a team run some form of a nice team defense/zone and get ready to fast break and chuck 3's. the only reason that this era is even allowed to pull off this much chucking is because of the offensive players no longer being guarded to tough by the defenders thanks to softer rules to protect ball handlers and shooters(dont get me wrong i cant stand when people intentionally step underneath you). and due to the fact that its hard to ISO people in todays zone defense/ team defense nba.
this is why i have always given steph props, and klay. two shooters who play defense. they would work in any era due to this very fact. some of these other euro guys would get torched, some of these shooting bruhs that dont play much d could not hide behind a nice team d scheme. they would get the numbers dropped on their heads to the point of the coach yanking them.
You remember how we did boykins form the clippers? he was a baller, but he was too short to play defense, similar to I.T. but he could score. eventually they realized how much of a defensive liability he was and that was that. Why is lou williams looking like an allstar? sure he has grown a bit. but thats not why. its the rule changes. if the rules wouldve remained as they were when Lou will came in. lou will would still be a journeyman getting 12 points per(not bad), shooting an awful fg% and not getting to the ft line like he does now.
Right now I'm shook of Lue, straight scared. because he's basically james harden light. he aint got no defense, but that offense + the rules = super lue will.
Trae Y is a beast on offense and has super quick hands. but lets be clear. a different era would have him looking super suspect because guys could make his life even harder on offense, and everyone would think twice about picking him up knowing he cant physically guard anyone. hes just to small of a guy in stature.
