While I can agree with his reasoning and his heart seems to be in the right place, at this moment paying for an actual physical album is pointless and losing all meaning of being valued as a metric for where an artist stands. Everyone streams whether they like it or not. The cost of producing physical albums might even be going up because of it. RIAA and Billboard should have been ahead of the wave while they were too busy trying to stop it from happening. I pay for google play and my streams should count towards my favorite artist's sales figure some how. I'm not wasting money on a disk when computers, laptops, and even vehicles aren't even bothering to put disc readers in them. These labels better start asking for more money from these services or kick rocks. And there's no real incentive to buy from itunes when I can't even get the booklet most of the time. :camby:

Seems pointless to me. And more importantly, very easy to manipulate to create "interest" in a brand

Streaming an album on a service you might get for free because of something else you bought = purchasing an album in an actual transaction ???

shyt is wack to me

:mjlol: SZA is a major talent breh. You're tripping. Do you know how hard it is to be a singer/song writers/producer? TDE is about quality. Album sales isn't the main focus. It's artists development

SZA ain't no major talent breh sorry :manny:
And if it was about artist development wouldn't he be working with them and controlling the quality of the projects rather than sitting on them :leostare:

Even dropping shyt from time to time to keep buzz and the artist's name circulating would make more sense in terms of developing the artist. Dude been sitting on Soul's projects forever, the last one he did little to no promotion on it, then dropped it as an album instead of releasing it for free, even though the quality of that project was nowhere near as good as Control System :francis:

Q finished his album a hot little minute ago and we've seen no sign of a release window or single. :patrice:

Kendrick seem like the only one who can control his destiny, even though he's hinted at having some financial frustration with him :manny:

I get Spotify Premium for free because of my phone plan. If I leave my phone playing songs on shuffle while it's charging, all those streams are counting towards record sales?? :camby:

you think any of them want to leave TDE and go elsewhere?

Ab-Soul is publicly fed up with Top Dawg and his entire label situation.

Q seems grateful to even be where he is today, which makes sense if you look at where he came from.

K-Dot blew up so they obviously gonna let him do whatever he wants, tho he's hinted in an interview that his money don't look right to him.

Rock and Top Dawg are tight, and he likes being underground, so I doubt he even cares what happens on the corporate side of things, but TDE shytTED on him and his album

an artist today was never making much off album sales
That was for the label
Unless they get the show money its not gonna be a good look for most rappers who go platinum off this system

you got sources? cuz im thee #1 tde stan, and aside from those few tweets soulo did about leaking his album before these days, he still seems down for tde. they all support and shoutout and retweet each other. kendrick's untitled 2 shouted out everybody which i don't think he would have done if he thinks he's getting scammed.... last year was kendricks year and i dont blame them for pushing everything else back to focus on that (most grammys since mike jackson)

It's a ridiculous stance to take in an attempt to sound honorable.

What were they supposed to do? The fact is, it will takes MILLIONS of streams for you to make any kind of traction on the charts so pretending that this is an insult is ridiculous.

It would be exhausting to go back and find sources for everything especially since Soul's social media frustration went on over a couple months but I'll try to pull up the Kendrick interview. Soul got quiet about it because he knows he can't fight it. As far as WE know, Soul has 2/3 finished projects that TDE is just sitting on for no real explicable reason. Everyone else on the label he might not have a problem with, but he doesn't like what top dawg is doing with his career.

Kendrick hasn't made a big deal out of it and looks at the business side of it and understands that he can't get EVERYTHING he wants because as a label they have to support themselves also, but he was talking before about how top dawg basically pays him "just enough"

fukk your streaming services and smart phone deals and whatev else Grandpa Irving and his jaggoff bearded Park Slope hipster nephew cook up in their little faggy boardroom. You better let Prince Salman piss on you in Dubai for them racks cause I ain't coming up off shyt, talentless fukking pillhead hacks.:pacspit:
